With *waves arms around* everything going on, it may not be obvious to you that the US dollar has lost value since the start of the year. When compared against the Euro, we were 0.95 euros to the dollar at the start of the year, and now it's 0.85 euros to the dollar, a loss of a little over 10%.

Even as I earn more money in life, my palette is largely a commoner’s. And I like it that way. I’ll take shrimp & grits, chicken soup, or a defrosted pot pie any day of the week baby that’s good eatin

Saw this IG post from @culturecritic.bsky.social that saddens me the more I think about it. Because while it’s about the design of ordinary things it really speaks to the design of everything, and how racing toward blandness in things and people is a symptom of a bland, dying culture.
