They left a pretty easy trail for the cops to find.

secret weapon: me.

He half-convinced them that I'd played DB for the Notre Dame football team, going so far as to say I'd had 2 INTs my senior year.

Of course, I had done nothing of the sort. But it was hilarious. All the Chemo told me was "play along if you get asked questions."

It is. Not technically deployment, but when I was a lieutenant in Korea, our cav squadron played an annual "Turkey Bowl" football game, LTs vs. captains & above. Our Sqdn CHEMO was a pot stirrer, so for a week leading up to it (without my knowledge) he was telling all the CPTs that the LTs had a 1/

"AI is more than LLMs, by denigrating it you're turning your back on important work and unlimited possibilities!"

Yes. Please explain to me how I really need a *checks notes* Samsung "Bespoke AI" refrigerator. Please let me know who asked for this.

Also it's an incredibly stupid idea to walk in and be like "gosh guys, what don't you like AI???!!!111" at THIS time of year when all the teachers/professors/educators on this site are in the middle of end-of-semester grading. Ultimate dipshit move.

If you want to argue that LLMs are good and useful, then say that--and be prepared for people to shit on you, because they're objectively harmful: to the users, to the environment, to society as a whole. Oh, the original post is someone who develops AI? Then they should know better and be clear.

scientists! But when you use the term "AI," it sounds like a doctor asking ChatGPT to diagnose a patient--in which case, what is the point of the doctor? That's an entirely different usecase than using computer assistance to conduct microsurgery. Quit setting people by using "AI." Be specific.

But beyond that, we really need to separate these functions out because hey, I'm NOT a software developer, nor am I in medicine or other fields where computer-automation and analysis can make a big difference and advance those fields. Certainly advanced computing can assist human doctors or

NO SHIT that a social media site that skews educated and left isn't a fan of LLMs! Spare us the feigned pearl clutching. ALL parties in this need to stop using the term "AI"--not only is it too broad, none of it is actually "intelligence" any more than a Magic 8-ball. It's statistical models.

Most of these assholes love to play "gotcha" with "AI isn't all LLMs, AI does great things in XYZ" and the problem with this line of argument is they intentionally use the catch-all term "AI" to get reactions when most people who aren't software developers encounter "AI" in the form of LLMs.
