This is a big deal. The inspectors general system was created after the Nixon era to be watchdogs for all the government agencies. They run independent of the agency they oversee and while they're imperfect they do incredibly important work.

ADM Fagan by all accounts was a very good head of the USCG, she just wouldn't take a loyalty oath to MAGA and they knew it. This firing is a shot across the bow to all generals and admirals that unless they pledge undying loyalty to Trump, they will be fired.

I'm mad. I'm sad. I'm disappointed. I'm scared. But the peaceful transfer of power is a cornerstone of democracy. The other guy won and was confirmed today. The appropriate response is to keep fighting, not try to burn democracy to the ground.

As we approach January 6th, I sit here wondering why it wasn’t a deal breaker for every American. Trump incited a mob to attack our Capitol & then sat on his ass for 187 mins. while they stole, broke & even rubbed their own 💩 on the walls & wanted to hang his VP!
