I'm a #writer of the three Gs: gods, ghosts, and (usually magical) girls.

She/Her. Neurodivergent. Ace. Unapologetically leftist. I even write with my left hand.

I know it's not en vogue that I write the antithesis of shadow daddies, but I just can't help it. Alex isn't blonde, though, if that helps. He's Burmese. Also, at this point, they're just friends. The novel doesn't end that way. #WIPSnips #writingcommunity #writesky

20. My biggest inspirations (and I know I sound like a broken clock) are history and mythology. But when I have a problem that needs a solution, especially in mechanics, I've found that anime is actually pretty decent. Sometimes a bit outlandish but helpful. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writesky

20. I don't typically read anything that gets shelved under "Fiction" at B&N. If it's not genre (or the classics), I don't usually feel the pull. But I made an exception for this one because I love female rage, sisterhood, and getting one over on the menfolk. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky

20. Iada is a city that has a small waterfall that falls into a beautiful swimming pool. It's a tourist destination that people come to for the opportunity to seek out good fortune. Most of the other major cities in the region are on the Salbyssan for port access. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writesky
Good day, #NovemberWorldbuilders! What settlements exist along the river or lake in your fictional world? Are they small? Big? A series of small villages or maybe one grandiose castle that dominates the area? Who lives and works around the water?
November 20, 2025 at 6:45 PM
19. I'm probably the weird one here, but I struggle the most with drafting. I have to know exactly where I'm going or I completely shut down and write at a trickle. I'm a much better editor because my brain loves parameters. Craves them, in fact. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writingcommunity #writesky

19. Le sigh. I am once again reminded that the big one is no more. I'd have to have the face blown off, though I can't think of anyone to replace him. But Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, and Guy Gavriel Kay would have to be the other three. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky

19. Not a lake or a river, but Kythe is an island city, so it stands to reason fish would be its earliest crop. In fact, its signature dish remains sweet and sour fish, though now it's a poor persons' food since the city has become a trading power. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writingcommunity #writesky
Alright, #NovemberWorldbuilders, this is the nichest of niche questions. If you have a notable lake/river in your world, how does it impact the economy? Do people fish from it? Are there any other resources they use? Maybe barges use it for transporting goods?

18. You're not supposed to have a favorite kid! That being said: Mia Godwin, who started out as my Princess Leia in a SW pastiche some friends decided to write together. She grew into such an amazing character and woman totally separate from her origins. I adore her. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writesky

18. Nothing I say can top this. I have never wondered why a book series was so damn popular as much as I did ACOTAR.

Actually, I will add something. The worldbuilding? It's bad. It's bad 80s paneling trying to be legit mid-century beauty. And it sucks. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky
#Bookvember 18

Oop guess I've got to talk about ACOTAR 😂

I know plenty of people hate on SJM but I *genuinely* wanted to like this book. A fantasy retelling of East of the Sun, West of the Moon? Hell yeah!

But it was... not good. Dumbass MC, boring LI, and let's not even talk about Rhysand... 😡

18. Rei has many feels about water. She is meh on the Kythene Bay, but the Salbyssan is basically magic in her eyes. And as soon as she sees a river for the first time, she'll fall deeply in love with how calm they make her feel. But swimming? That's a hard pass. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writesky
Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Let's talk about your MC today. What is their relationship with water like? Do they know how to swim? Have they ever caught a fish? Or is it just something that gets in the way during their long journey? Maybe they've never *seen* a body of water so big

17. Gosh, I wish I had time for hobbies. Can I list watching Jeopardy as a hobby? I put it on in the background while I work. I guess, as I'm not paid for it, writing is my actual hobby. I also enjoy researching anything that catches my fancy. #FantasyIndiesMarch #writesky #writingcommunity

17. I really, really have to go with Guy Gavriel Kay. He isn't unknown, but he is grossly underloved. My favorite is the Sarantine Mosaic duology (which definitely influenced my current WIP), but A Song for Arbonne was my intro and an accessible standalone. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky

17. Focusing on the Salbyssan, there aren't many rivers or lakes in the story so far. And the one there is, in Iada, which is a short waterfall into a pristine pool, has little animal life besides tiny, baby fishies that bring good luck if they nibble on your toe. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writesky
#NovemberWorldbuilders time! Are there any animals or creatures who live in this body of water? Or maybe wildlife that comes to take a drink? Maybe they aren't animals, but... some kind of sentient entity? What is it? How do you classify it? How do the locals treat it?
November 17, 2025 at 8:27 PM
16. *glances at the novel-length outline that isn't even halfway through the story yet* Are there options OTHER than writing a 50k outline for a 100k novel? What do you mean just making shit up and fixing it in post is an option? That's terrifying. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writingcommunity #writesky

16. I love fantasy with all my heart. But the older I've gotten, the more my tastes have turned to the offbeat, the cozy, and the clever. Give me evil multinational corporations, small town witches, and hilarious shenanigans over fight scenes any day. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky

16. Besides Lirsei being the god of the waters and, as such, the longtime primary god of Kythe, the Salbyssan has little myth associated with water. The northern nations, however, think of rivers as the goddess' veins and conduits to the afterlife. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writingcommunity #writesky
Hey there, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Tell me a story about your river/lake. Do the locals have any beliefs about it? A myth or legend or a tie to their religion? What makes this bit of water so important to their culture?

15. I have so little written for Dreams in Mosaic (which has to be book two, now that I think about it), but I do have some character studies. Here's something from the MC's POV. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writingcommunity #writesky

15. Going with what I love to write, my fave is The Malazan Book of the Fallen, which says so much about me as a person. But for what I love to read, nothing beats Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. It's less popular, but I love its prose so much--and Fanny Price. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky

15. I guess I'll go with the ocean since part one of the novel is them sailing to Archyropol. It is, in actuality, one ocean but the sail through the Kythene Bay, down the Illiasis Sea, and into the Salbyssan, which gives the region its name. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writingcommunity #writesky
Welcome to our third week, #NovemberWorldbuilders! This time we're talking about important RIVERS or LAKES in our world! But, tbh, any sufficiently important body of water will do. Also, don't feel obliged to answer; sometimes I cover niche topics that aren't for everyone!

14. I have many pets! The 1st pic has my two idiot dog sons. Brown is Dogberry, white is Bingley. The 2nd is my girl, Phoebe, and my baby, Miles. The final is my fave pic of my orange and white kitten, Oliver, who is now eight. I just love this pic. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writingcommunity #writesky

14. This question really breaks my heart because the book that really spoke to me and made me want to become a published author is one by an author I can no longer support. It reflected the way I saw my home and my faith. Losing it devastated me. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky

14. In many ways, yes, Getaera mirrors Earth societies' morals. What it doesn't mirror are gender and sexuality norms in this world, especially restrictive ones. Some societies are still capitalist, others are trade-based, and the Sarqani are universally vegetarian. #NovemberWorldbuilders #writesky
What's up, #NovemberWorldbuilders peeps! Have you dared to get a little freaky with your worldbuilding? Does your fictional world's society believe something to be good or evil which societies on Earth (generally speaking) do not agree with? How did you come up with that idea?👀

13. I have a home office where I'm meant to write, but it's so disorganized and in need of work right now that I can't do it. So I do my best writing at cafes, where my brain can sit at a less formal place than work and a less comfy place than home. #FantasyIndiesNovember #writingcommunity #writesky

13. There's way too many books that have given me that insight. I read a ton of NF as it is, so I'm always learning something new. But the books that stuck with me were the ones from my Black History class. I'll choose the three that really stuck. #Bookvember #writingcommunity #writesky
