There's Black-Famous: A person who is well-known among Black people and there is Famous-Famous: someone widely known across populations of people and a high number of those populations of people.

It's like the difference between "Say less" and "Say no more", I suppose.

That's disappointingly sad to see.

You'd think a company that has acknowledged that their prime source for plasticine clay is very, very limited would appreciate natural resources a little more considering so much of it goes away with this vampire tech.

I don't even know the last time I've seen Xanadu. I probably owe it to myself to do so again, if only for the disco aesthetic of it.

Carter Hart?

A little too close to the nose there.

Also, a truly Canadian name.

The TV and film library is massive, but they need to understand how important Warner Bros Consumer Products will be to this new company because they've found a perfect and enviable balance other media companies wish they had.

And they work with EVERYBODY.

Netflix has been flirting with other revenue streams. I'm hoping they truly understand what they're getting. I'm hoping they understand what a unit like DC Comics can do for them beyond being IP for media projects. I'm hoping they get what having something like Mortal Kombat is beyond games.

What KPop Demon Hunters did at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the reception to that was nothing short of remarkable. The fact they got two of the biggest toymakers backing them and they're poised to get awards from it is nothing short of wild. What'll come next is a new world for Netflix.

KPop Demon Hunters surprised the hell out of Netflix, and they're going to make a mint off of that. With a company like Warner Bros that has been known to handle major properties on their side, they're going to learn how to embrace that business outside of their SVOD in a big way.

The big question is Netflix looking to learn accept that there's a way of making money that's not SVOD customers with a little merchandising on the side. If they can learn from WB how much money & transactional/viewer data they've left on the table, becoming a multi-outlet concern. That's exciting.

The current media situation falls under the term "oligopoly." As this point, most TV/movies fall under several huge conglomerates (Disney, Warner Bros., Comcast, and Paramount) or dominant streaming outlets (Netflix, Amazon, Disney+/Hulu). Thus any further mergers makes this even more problematic?

Like, this is not the response of a market accepting that 4-7 companies each want $10-20 out of your pocket while giving you nothing to keep for that. This is average folks already breaking with that while technically savvy folks won't even create the demand for more copies at the library 😉:

Have libraries have become the new Blockbuster?
Streaming is over. The magazine is back. And everyone who’s too online is apparently getting off again. The time is ripe for an analog revolution. And where better to start than the stacks? A…

Oh, no doubt. There are plenty of oligopolies in the States as well. The cable industry is still dominant and shrinking (Charter is currently planning to buy Cox). Similarly, there are fewer grocery chains. The #1 grocery chain Kroger tried to buy the #2 chain Albertsons. The illusion of choice, man

Yeah, it's heavy vertical integration, but not a monopoly, especially while Disney, Comcast & Paramount exist, to say nothing of the fact Comcast is spinning out Versant & Netflix/WB will spin out Discovery Global. There's still various players in motion that fight more than collude for now.

It's crazy that greed would be the ultimate reason for copyright reform of the media, but then again, greed is a catalyst for a lot of things in this world of ours.

I'm not saying that any of this would happen. But seeing the forest for the trees, there's a group of chainsaws coming towards us.

While these public domain laws would relatively make everything accessible to everyone, which would be great, it'll easily aid these companies who are already facing litigation from media companies who are angry these techbros are blatantly stealing their IPs. The government wouldn't do it for us.

This government would happily shorten the lifespan of the copyrights to make it easier for these companies to scour & take whatever media is out there to make cheap derivative uncreative pablum from them without dealing with corporate entities that seemingly own these libraries for nearly a century.
