Let me say a few words that I said over on IG @/afrasianimaginaries
Unlike both faculty and students, I’m keen on this class. I think it’s urgent and important to sit together and think slowly and purposefully what theory and methods shape our fields of knowledge and what their possibilities and limits are. In a discipline that absolutely at the scale of itself has not had a reckoning with its coloniality despite the staggering contributions of anticolonial thinkers, English departments need those of us trained in postcolonial studies, Black studies, Indigenous studies to be teaching this course rather than siloing our knowledges to an elective topics course. Especially at a minority serving institution like where I teach.

We need proof of how quorum was maintained (show #s) and what parliamentary procedures were deployed to have whatever illegitimate conversation was had on the MLA Members for Justice in Palestine resolution to endorse 2005 call for BDS.

& allies incredible action at #MLA25 Delegate Assembly.

Then again MLA leadership has shown a penchant for cruelest calculus, “fiduciary responsibility” in exchange for abandoning Palestinians.
MLA members in support of BDS resolution with their hands raised in support of resolution as organizers disrupt the delegate assembly by reading it out since the Executive Council refused to let it to be discussed and voted upon. A nearly empty room with half or more people missing from each section of the Delegate Assembly seating area after members and delegates walked out of the assembly in protest.

The thing is some of the most clear, incisive critique of Zionism and the Israeli state is coming from Jewish people (See, Jewish Voices for Peace; Breaking the Silence) so y’all simply will not be able to convince me that Jewish people writ large believe that the occupation of Palestine is the only way for Jewish people to be safe in the world.
