With some dissonance, I am leaving an on-fire LA for #MLA25. Please join me on Friday and Saturday for two great sessions - a lightning talk session on the margins of the medieval world, and a panel on the situatedness of medieval studies.

When you claim “quorum was maintained,” but👇🏽 before / after of room @MLAforPalestine
& allies incredible action at #MLA25 Delegate Assembly.

Then again MLA leadership has shown a penchant for cruelest calculus, “fiduciary responsibility” in exchange for abandoning Palestinians.

-Maybe let the others finish and then roll renewals under the library.
-Respect your fellow stakeholders.
-Beware of silos. Connect with colleagues in other divisions.
-Be clear on roles within your organization.

Daily #MLA25 #MLA2025 updates slipped as days 2-4 were packed with more engaging panels & catch ups with old & new connections ✨ Common thread: serious considerations about the future of research & scholarly orgs. Also 3 beignets is slightly too much for a snack but 1 leaves you wanting more

#MLA25 Tip: Don't take it personally if nobody shows up to your 8:30am panel. It just means your life's work is meaningless.

A new assignment inspired at #MLA25 & aided by colleagues like @triproftri.bsky.social is the Commonplace Book—it essentially replaces my typical discussion prep & participation assignments—might as well be overly bookish in "Building a (Better) Book" right? s25bbb.ryancordell.org/pages/assign...
