Something I'd like to learn more about is the history of the "Philippine Mahogany" aka Meranti used for millwork in Portland houses from the 50s and 60s. It's ubiquitous especially in lower end rental housing. Seems like some sort of postwar plunder of the South Pacific and SE Asia was happening.

Grace is joining me for at least the beginning of the game.

Saw this today, a scruffy little 2 door G wagon with a snorkel and a livery. #weirdcarbs

Today I met a gas water heater from 1991.

Grace loves to scatter her baby teeth about the place.

Settled in for the 2nd half.

I got Grace a pig's ear from the butcher shop and she's uninterested in joining me on the couch for the game.

Good sky when I got home from the mines today.

I've fired up the 10,000W heater and spent money to warm the shop up to 57F, so I guess I better tidy some of this shit up.

Yeah the cheap filament I use for utility stuff is basically $10/kg, so I put that into the slicer and it calculates how many grams and the cost. Usually it tells me I'm using way more plastic then necessary for whatever I'm trying to accomplish.

Found a file for some little ones (3.5 cm tall). I can print these for about $.10 ea. I might design some bigger ones.

Did the thing with my kids and my parents. Nobody has horrible politics, and my parents, very good cooks, make the same thing every year so there was no food drama. A pleasant, low stress family gathering! Grace was well behaved, mostly.

An aside - I built that walnut table about 20 years ago.

We had a little drama when Grace ate my parents' dog's food, but mostly it's been fine.

I strayed from my plan to stay indoors all day and took Grace for a little walk so Guthrie could get some things done. I'm afraid that Grace might be a terrier of some sort. This picture captures her vibe pretty well. She's coming to Thanksgiving with the folks tomorrow, it's gonna be lit.

They're really good! Just some random easy recipe I found, but the pecans are my idea. I generally eat them with ice cream.

Now that I've cleared out the baking dish I could, hypothetically, bake a large, rectangular apple pie but I'd have to go buy apples, which would require going outdoors.

Grace is extremely excited about the Blazers' strong start.

My parents were recently getting rid of a bunch of old books and found some of my childhood car books, including this one from 1981 about concept cars.

I just managed to plant all my garlic before dark - Chesnok Red from last year and 2 new varieties, so I made myself a map. I know I'm supposed to record this in a twee Moleskine notebook with beautiful illustrations, but I ain't that kind of gardener. The Spanish Roja has nice fat cloves.
