i nabbed a free event poster from The Donn of Tiki last week, and framed it up today for the tiki bar.
because $12 for a frame + a free poster is pretty much my decor budget these days. 🍹🦜🌴

this thread is a work of art.
On 29th January 1996, "Threshold", the Star Trek: Voyager episode where Captain Janeway and Tom Paris turned into giant space newts and had babies first aired. Since it's #ThresholdDay we aim to answer a burning question: did Paris and Janeway fuck? If so, how did they fuck?

best/most canadian commentator line of the olympics so far: oh ya, just going for a little rip on the ODR.
(heard during men’s 5km speed skating. ODR = outdoor rink)

of course people are mad about GLP1s being sponsors for olympics. fat people must suffer and how dare they have medical assistance. especially in this time of sports. 😒

i have random money saving tips that no one asked for.
1. use rakuten.
2. check rakuten for gift cards at places you shop. for example, they have some grocery stores, home depot etc on there.
3. double dip whenever possible. buy the gift card and use it to buy online using rakuten to earn cash back

Honouring Gord Downie on his birthday today. A builder, a truth-teller, an Aquarian poet who carried a country in his chest. 🕯️🇨🇦 CBC helped turn his voice into a shared cultural heartbeat. If we want future Gords, we protect public broadcasting. Happy Birthday Gord! Drop a fave lyric or memory. 🔥🖤

i’m sorry, their FIRST grammy?!?
what the actual fuck? this is one of the greatest bands of all time. disintegration is a perfect album and every other album ever created is less than it.
The Cure win their first Grammys, taking home Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance

For some reason Brookfield Asset Management always gets left out of this - they gave $250 million USD to the purchase of X/Twitter.
It was run by Mark Carney at the time, who is now Canada's Prime Minister.

i know everyone is currently excited over Heated Rivalry, and i love that for you all. please enjoy.
i’m not gonna watch it, and i don’t have a grand reason, it’s just that i’ve realized i’ve lost a taste for hockey. i find most sports really off-putting these days, even in a fictional context.

I will accept no moral high ground from a government that refuses to ban a platform that is actively, in real time, right in front of our faces, creating child sexual abuse materials.

They're not banning it and there are still government departments with official Twitter accounts.

Fuck Carney.
Canada not considering a ban on X over deepfake controversy, AI minister says
The platform, which is owned by Elon Musk, has been embroiled in controversy over sexualized deepfakes of women and children created by X’s chatbot Grok.

As the saying goes "If someone says it’s raining and another person says it’s dry, it’s not your job to quote them both. It’s your job to look out the window and find out which is true.”
If CBC radio has watched the video why can they not describe the facts about how ICE murdered a woman? Instead they quote BOTH Trump and Kristi Noem’s description before saying the state reps “disagree” but they NEVER DESCRIBE THE FACTS. They relate Trump’s lie that she was weaponizing the car.

i am just really sad to my core for humanity today.

like, what are we even doing here guys? we’re disgraceful creatures that should be annihilated. we don’t deserve this beautiful planet.

this is america.

and if you don’t feel sick and angry at the thought of this, if you can honestly read this account below and feel okay about that being what happened to that very real family yesterday… then you are truly a lost and fucked up soul.
You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

remember when he bragged that he could murder someone in broad daylight and no one would touch him?

i think about that quote all the time because it was a rare occurrence where he was actually telling the truth.

Good, investigative journalism + activism from outraged community members is how we get the job done.

"The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra has released an open letter to the classical-music community, pledging to never again ask a sexual-misconduct complainant to sign a confidentiality agreement."
VSO says it won’t use confidentiality agreements in cases involving sexual misconduct
Open letter follows Esther Hwang’s allegations that the organization put pressure on her to sign an NDA to settle a sexual-assault complaint
