It is with deep sadness that I have to report the passing of Chip Berlet. He was one of the few people to consistently research and organize against the U.S. Far Right from the 1970s through the '00s. His co-authored 2000 book "Right-Wing Populism in America" unfortunately remains all-to-relevant.
Chip Berlet (1949-2026)
When neo-fascists began to be followed and recorded, it was Chip that was the one who made the first moves. He gave us the blueprint that antifascist researchers go by today. Thank you, Chip, we will take it from here.

there's basically two kinds of therapists: one who admits this because its true, and one who tries to deny it because they like the way things are.
I want everyone who has spent years in therapy wondering what is wrong with them, wondering why they had so many bad relationships, why they felt so much dread, to know that it was in part because you were living in a world run by evil, evil people and you could tell that somewhere deep down

oh gawd. "fuckgate" was one of my first experiences with non-mainstream feminism lmao.
At the same time, my 2nd waver mom had a more extreme language take basically right in the 80s: "fuck" basically means "to rape" there's just no getting around the way that association is perniciously buried into it a thousand ways and its what gives "fuck" its bite. Also we're stuck with it.
