Accounts that post AI generated images on the #SecondLife feeds are an immediate block for me. Why not take a screenshot of your venue in the viewer instead of being lazy, prompting some power and water sucking processing plant to waste resources on your slop that doesn't even add value to the post?

I upgraded my computer a few weeks ago so I can run the latest #Firestorm viewer, but now the viewer crashes if I'm in a region with a lot of things to rez. It turns out that my computer is now officially old enough that I have to use the Legacy Firestorm viewer. #SecondLife

"AI" is absolutely and ONLY a marketing term, and at this point if it's being used, the intent behind it is to overpromise to the consumer/end user on the program's actual capabilities. And, of course, none of the "AI" is actually intelligent in any meaningful way.
It would be neat if it wasn’t marketed as AI. Predictive statistical modeling doesn’t really slide off the tongue I guess

Never thought I'd see Apple careening after the competition from one provably niche product category (VR) to another (XR). Why try to make "smart glasses" when several attempts have failed and they could add AI functionality into their AirPods, which already are mass market?

One advantage of major media companies increasingly depending on direct streaming subscriptions as opposed to indirect Nielsen viewership estimates is the major media companies will immediately see the revenue hit to a fucked up decision of theirs.

What makes Bluesky different: it’s open source, so anyone can contribute to building the experience they want. And even if you build a whole new app, the protocol means you can migrate with your data, identity, and relationships intact.
The eternally-great thing about open source: if something doesn't exist, and the devs don't have time to work on it themselves, you can just implement it for them!
If they decide not to take it as-is, you've still helped explore the design space.

I'm reblogging this recent post by Daniel Voyager,with my own thoughts thrown in. I got excited when I saw Daniel's post, since in my opinion Lumiya was the best mobile viewer of its time. I may actually go as far to say of any time for that matter. Linden Lab are doing their best building their own viewer from the ground up, but it's focussed mainly on new residents as an entry path, not for seasoned residents that might want to quickly log in to do some task or other.
