I feel like we must remind people that laws are really just community agreements.

The minute a large enough collective stops agreeing, we’ve got a problem. Trump’s administration is trying to reinterpret the Constitution—but the reason it even exists is because of someone like him. Look familiar?

Another climate change/ migration poem featuring California fires, specifically the one in Paradise where incarcerated people were used to put out fire but were not compensated for risking their lives. So many people migrate or die b/c of disasters like this. #palisades #eaton #LosAngeles

There’s in my book entitled “Before Dusk, Say Maybe.” It’s a play on BDSM, climate change, and the planet’s difficult relationship with humanity. #californiafires #losangeles

Spent Christmas w/ the kiddo and her family. It feels like I got here just in time to see her say goodbye to child-like wonder. She’ll be a teenager soon, so I went all out as the goofy “auntie.” Got into a fight w/ a reindeer and everything—just for her.

Sometimes I feel like I’m not publishing enough. But despite everything going on this year, I still managed to get work in an anthology, published several poems and a hybrid essay, and dropped my 2nd poetry collection.

Oh. And I’m on GRAMMY nominated album. Thank you 2024. 🙏🏾✨

Exciting News: I am the new Board Chair for the Guild Literary Complex in Chicago. I’m excited to support the mission as we move into our 35th year.

The work continues!

In December 2021, I was camping in my car by the ocean in Escondido, crying about everyone I’ve lost.

Tonight, I’ll take that same car to downtown Chicago, not far from the lake, and probably cry because of everyone I found.

This is all I got right now. This little bridge.

Sitting inside a new Black woman-owned bookstore in South Shore Chicago on their opening day and in love with the way we show up and show out.

Pouring blessings on Pen & Paper this new moon!

I’m writing. I’m recentering. I’m dreaming. I’m talking to my friends on the other side. I’m taking the time to reacquaint myself with myself.

I have a feeling 2025 is going to be wild—and amazing. I’m already grateful for it.

The situation in my dining area right now. Yes, that’s the memoir. No, I didn’t mean to order that many bananas. Of course, the bag is pre-packed. And yes, I need help putting that filter in. You free rn?

Grateful to be listed as a 2024 Gwendolyn Brooks Living Legacy Honoree among such life-giving writers. To be seen and read is a gift. To have my work be considered in this lineage—a gift. To be here, in Chicago, to see the impact of Brooks’ work on her city—a gift.

A health crisis, a bankruptcy, poverty, and a pandemic forced me to release my book collection again and again over the years. As I wrap up the writing for my first memoir, I’m grateful that my shelves are once again starting to overflow with the wisdom, knowledge, and experiences of others.

I know I’m supposed to be clever and current here on my timeline—but all of my creative energy is being diverted to these projects.

All I have for Bluesky are revelations abt being almost 40, ominous astrology, and photos that prove I actually go outside occasionally.

Here are some now from LA.

To officially kickoff my move to Blue Sky, a little about me.

I’m a multimodal and interdisciplinary writer, performer, artist, activist, and cultural strategist born in Los Angeles, raised in Central Texas, but now based in Chicago.

I make shift happen.
