I think a good example is arguing about politics by other means. There is a near religious belief it is not possible but pointing out this is precisely what the GOP has achieved with the shutdown and illegal cuts causes a short circuit.

i think derivative of this is point is the question "what does responsible punditry look like?"
a concept i talk about a lot with the guy i'm seeing is "fast thinking", which is like low-grade, shallow, and easily disposable pop intellectualism. key hallmarks include focusing on discourse over substance, not being able to separate similar form from different content, and "annoying = evil"
legitimately i think one of the core failings of centrist pundits is that they have come to define themselves by what they are against--to chart their intellectual course by who they think is being annoying this week--instead of by recourse to genuine principle

Reactionary patriarchy only cares about sorting "normal" from "deviant".

if you've ever had to organize IRL or just like ... operate in a subcultural scene having basic litmus tests like "no nazis tattoos" is good actually because the costs of getting rid of certain people is so much harder than just barring them from entry upfront
