So I suppose it's a.... good thing? When two characters you're writing decide to wake you up with a screaming match at 3:30 in the morning?

And I thought the cat was bad enough...

You Can Kill Them, But Should You? Nobles in D&D
A Noble has CR 1/8 - weaker than a mule, easier to kill than a bandit. The problem isn't killing them. The problem is what happens after. This entry explores Nobles as systemic threats whose real power comes from resources, connections, and consequences your party can't fight with swords. Plus the Noble Prodigy: what happens when you add 5th-level spells to inherited wealth and political power.

Monthly Monster Mashup 9: Empyreans + Seahorse
An Empyrean - child of a god, reshaper of reality - has been transformed into a seahorse with 1 HP and an attitude problem. Your players must keep this tiny, indignant divine fish alive while it learns humility... or lectures them about cosmic order in its wispy little voice. Three scenarios for putting god-children and seahorses in the same adventure, all of them ridiculous and wonderful.

Tomorrow’s Necrohulk: D&D’s Fungal Ecosystem
Something shambles toward your party in the dark - a corpse wrapped in fungal growth, mindlessly hunting. Your players aren't heroes here. They're just food. Today's adventurers, tomorrow's Necrohulk.

I idly wonder if the anti-ICE protests could use a Dad Battallion and a Mom Brigade. Just the most quintessentially dad and mom-looking people with signs like "I'M DISAPPOINTED IN YOU, SLUGGER" and "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BABY BOY?"

Every little bit of psychological undermining helps.

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.

It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.

Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.

Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

You can’t “detain” a two year old child. This is a kidnapping.

A roving gang of armed, unidentified thugs - who we THINK are federal agents, but who could literally be anyone at all - are kidnapping children and then abusing and trafficking them. ROUTINELY.

Don’t describe it any other way.

It’s Just a Chicken: The Cockatrice Ecosystem
Statues litter the approach to the old abbey. Some new, some worn by time. All screaming. The Cockatrice Regent and its flock have turned this place into a hunting ground, and your players just walked into the middle of it. This entry explores petrification as ecosystem engineering and gives you the tools to make "just a chicken" into something terrifying.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.
