"pricing tests are short term, randomized & designed so that people may see slightly lower prices and some may see slightly higher prices, with the goal of helping retail partners understand consumer preferences & identify categories where they should invest in lower prices"
Same product. Same store. Same time. But on Instacart, different customers may see different prices.
My story on a fascinating new experiment from @groundwork.bsky.social & @consumerreports.org and how the idea of a single price is breaking down in the digital age:

I hope state and local police are required to enfore these protections. The people can't do it alone
Today, I've signed into law legislation that expands legal protections for the people of Illinois.

Dropping your kid off at day care, going to the doctor, or attending classes should not be a life-altering task.

We will counter the Trump Administration's depravity.

Fun experience, not entirely unexpected, at the pharmacy for the first time after losing my job and health insurance. "It costs HOW MUCH? We won't be doing that one!" You can choose 2: meds, food, or pay utilities. Thank you best* healthcare in the free world.

all I ever wanted was a family band. making team art. I think what I have is better. family businesses. beloved local knife sharpener. scarce bitter economist writing it all down. he helps, and I help, then we help each other.

this is the way, my friends.

The standards for women and men are very different.
Not to defend Olivia Nuzzi, who broke every rule in journalism and promoted a charlatan to his current position. But it's incredibly telling that she will lose her job, but RFK Jr. gets to stay in his job despite the reports of his drug use, his affairs and his defenestrating of public health.

We need better ways of capturing the reality of research funding - Colin’s thread shows one desperate situation where a thriving lab has been strangled, but won’t show up in counts of officially terminated projects
We started building Verena in 2019. Three years into being an NSF Center, we are/were a preposterously productive research team; the open science organization for pandemic prevention; a training hub that was creating new paths into the field; and a community that means a lot to all of us. /2

It’s was called Redemption, because after being forced to endure the “humiliation” of legal equality with Black Americans and share governance with them, the white South is redeemed, and part of that Redemption was the installation of Confederate Monuments/erasure relics of Reconstruction/Black rule.

It might be easy to find things like this merely petty or superficial, but that would be a mistake. Demeaning, erasing or eliminating celebrations or acknowledgments of Black America is straight from Redemption playbook, and is intended to reinforce the racial hierarchy and signal its reinstatement.

The Trump Administration finds new ways to pull the rug out from under Americans every day.

And now they're putting babies in danger.

Illinois just enacted a law to provide our own science-based recommendations to protect access to vaccines so families get the care they need.
US vaccine advisers say not all babies need a hepatitis B shot at birth
A federal vaccine advisory committee has voted to end a longstanding recommendation that all U.S. babies get the hepatitis B vaccine on the day they’re born.

Activists agreed to point their cameras away from cops and soldiers so they could help the very lawmakers they were instructed to shoot climb over the fence to go vote down the martial law without showing up on livestreams before the fascists who would punish them for it were in jail.

the only way to stop a coup is to stop. the. coup.
The one year anniversary of Yoon's failed martial law takeover just passed and lots of untold stories came out proving that THE ONLY REASON KOREA IS STILL A FREE COUNTRY IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DISOBEYED ILLEGAL ORDERS.

The coup was over in hours because people said no.
