Notes on level design workflow for the 3D platformer Big Hops
A behind-the-scenes look at some of the tooling, level design methods, and metrics use for this cartoony 3D exploration game I helped make.

Rogue waves were once the stuff of nautical legend. Tales of giant lone waves were considered sailors' tall tales, until an oil rig in the North Sea was hit by a 25.6-meter wave on 1 January 1995.

I always feel extra inspired after attending MAGFest. Just a really wonderful event with a lot of great, creative, curious, welcoming humans.

What you're doing is the equivalent of asking a StarWars addled 10 year old for design ideas on your scifi game

I'm not joking that's literally how these models work

Can you argue him off StarWars? Sure. But do you know enough Extended Universe lore to catch when he sneaks back into it? You don't.

Ah yes, "using humans to generate any summary longer than a couple hundred words". The worst passive description of "authors writing"!?!
'For now, we recommend that journalists stick to using these tools to generate short summaries....AI-generated long summaries should not be used for publication. In general, we recommend using humans to generate any summary longer than a couple hundred words, and to always verify the facts.'

In the case of literature reviews, they found the ai results “underwhelming and in some cases alarming.”

Any tea drinkers out there? I’ve had to take a break from coffee lately, so I’d love to collect some recommendations. I’ve been enjoying matcha lattes and some lapsang blends from a local business that does D&D-themed teas. Herbal teas also appreciated!

Stop spreading this garbage about em dashes in ACTUAL EDITED PROSE OH MY GOD.

Plenty of actual human beings know how to type em dashes! We’re called “writers” and “editors” — maybe you’ve heard of us?

If there's one algorithm I've implemented more times than any other, it's definitely A* search, but I've never implemented it using memory pools before now. There's been some fractal complexity getting everything working and (pretty) well covered with tests, but very rewarding to see it in action!
