There is a no-longer charming naïveté in the belief that politicians fail because bad people somehow became politicians, and if we just replace them with good (or GREAT) people it’ll all get fixed. Americans of all ages love superheroes, but, ALAS, “childishness is sinister in adults”

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

Wanna see a pathetic geezer grovel for *the promise of* breadcrumbs? Nah, me neither.
King: So I believe that we are closer tonight to a vote on the ACA tax credits than we were this morning. This agreement tonight is a win for the American people.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

Do @alsobrooks.senate.gov & @vanhollen.senate.gov support the removal of Schumer from leadership? If not, we must assume they too are part of this corrupt bargain. ‘No’ means nothing without action to back it up.
they're taking the heat for colleagues who agree with them, but don't want to get primaried

The arrogance of a Senator who is not even running again to take the lead in undermining the Caucus and the voters.
Shaheen: So let me be clear. No one in the senate chamber wants to extend the ACA tax credits more than I do.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)
They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.
The Senate Democrats!

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

So about that piano-sized hole
Saving face? Backing down now will prove beyond all doubt the complete fecklessness of the Democrats. If you thought the brand couldn’t sink any lower, get ready to see a grand piano-sized hole in the floor. thehill.com/homenews/sen...

Every unlawful exertion of executive power has been pretextual--e.g., DEI, crime in cities, drug trafficking, antisemitism, waste, fraud, abuse, indoctrination, autism, insurrection--the real motive is and has always been to consolidate autocratic rule.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Nearly 10 years in, these two deserve huge amounts of kudos for the work they’ve done. Get ready to defend them, cuz the attacks and smears will only escalate from here.
Leah and I just got off the stage in DC. More than 200k. Double what we saw for Hands Off! This movement is incredible.
We’re better than fear. We’re braver than billionaires. We’re bigger than ever. And we will win. #NoKings

Heh, amateur. You need Burner phones in Faraday bags. Drone recon w/ thermal overlay. Exfil routes pre-mapped. Comms on encrypted freq. Full MOPP gear for CBRN threats. Defensible rally points with snipers. Surgeons and fake passports (with new face) ready. Then; *maybe* you can attend a protest.
Actual advice for (US) No Kings:
No names, no phones, black clothes you've never worn before, masks, gloves, good shoes, eye protection, water...
Utilise the military guys in your ranks. Give them radios that connect with people flying drones above the rally. Co-ordinate movements accordingly.

Lets be real. A man who puts on a mask, completely obscures his identity, to smash through doors, terrorize and abduct people with impunity, and do so on the public dime, is at a bare minimum a social leech. A blood sucker feasting on and weakening its host.

Stating the obvious isn’t being pollyannish. It’s essential when living under a regime based on shameless hourly lies piled higher than Golgotha
Trump is violating the constitution and the remedy is to remove him.
