We sort of won on safety, eventually lost on the firing, which was always going to be hard to reverse. They didn't retaliate against anyone, which means they got the message, at least for awhile. I think they were shocked.

I wouldn't say there's nothing in the Mojave, though

On the other hand, I took a train in China that only took about 480 minutes to go from Beijing to Guangzhou.

I just looked up how long it takes the new Amtrak Borealis between Minneapolis and Chicago and I was surprised to see it's only supposed to be about 50 minutes longer than the old Twin Cities 400 (400 miles in 400 minutes). Not sure how often it's on time, but that's still encouraging.

Anyway, I saw a lot of businesses that are going to be hurting while I looked for where that cafe was.

Yeah, I just found an obituary for the owner whose name was Tom Paris. Not clear if he was the last owner of it. But it said it was at the site of that night club. They had good pancakes and waffles.

Mostly unrelated, but when I was looking at Google Maps to make sure I'm remembering the size and location of the plant that's closing, I recalled stopping at the Little Paris Cafe with my parents, my son, and my cousin from France who enjoyed the name and the French phrases on the menu.

So that's the basic issue? Is there a reason they chose to close this particular plant, that you know of?

This is an interesting finding about the long-term presence Lyme disease and deer ticks. Makes sense that their changing abundance in the last century is closely related to white-tailed deer populations in the eastern and midwestern US. medicine.yale.edu/news-article...

I don't have any idea. You would think if they were here in any numbers in the 1860s or earlier they'd be mentioned in, say, diaries.

I know, they're actually yelling at each other and we're just listening in. "Stay in line!!" or whatever.
