I don’t know why, the French seemed appreciative of my butchering their language while attempting to order food or services. It’s like they knew this moron- who was trusting, polite, and had no idea what they’re doing- is ultimately doomed, but let him have his day. You don’t kick a puppy.

Very instructive. Obama and Bill Clinton won their first terms handily because they ran like progressives and motivated the base to help run the ground game. Twice now, we’ve learned that big donor money and the endorsement of the commentariat is no substitute.

I felt like both Bill Clinton and Obama won their primaries and first terms precisely because they were perceived as progressive candidates and ran on that messaging. The re-elections were another story, but a centrist platform from day one will demoralize the activist base they need for turnout.
