The James Elkin novels made me realize the obvious: Many huge novels convey fascinating info or thoughts about various subjects in addition to being narratives about people. This helps me enjoy them by reading them at times as if I were reading fiction but at other times as if reading nonfiction 2/2

Imagine wasting that much money on a pet project and not only do you keep your job but you get a bigger bonus than ever. I literally cannot imagine this even though it's exactly what these execs get. The privilege of fucking up repeatedly with zero consequences.
