My partner was forced into early retirement because of the construction sector collapse … in his niche there is not a single person of experience standing. Everyone has left the sector, mostly to retire. A whole generation of expertise lost in one fell swoop.
One of the first things National Party did when they got into power was to cancel most of the infrastructure jobs: schools, water, renewables, footpaths, hospitals.

20,000 jobs lost - with the industry putting it right at National's feet.

Auckland is a region of tickets. But also: people who put in the work get re-elected - Josephine Bartley, Richard Hills etc.

ActLocal was spectacularly unsuccessful, winning only 1 seat on the Ōrākei local board.
That’s
0/5 councillors and
1/14 local board members

After yesterday’s dense but very localised fog, and the previous few weeks of wet, we have a beautiful clear morning with not a cloud in the sky. A crescent moon and Venus are prominent in the NE sky.
