Extrapolating this over the 2024 House results nationwide, this would be a 54-42 rout - we'll see what gerrymandering, voter suppression, and a hostile federal government does to the results, though.

Here's your takeaway from TN-7

Republicans lost 14% of their support.

In 2024 Republicans got 49.8% of the vote nationwide in house races, Dems 47.2.

So extrapolating (dangerous work, I know)...that would work out to a 54-42 landslide in the 2026 generals, if TN-7 is predictive.

I wonder what Adam Smith would make of a market "defying" a potentate?

Also: seriously, Times? That's the takeaway?

When you make three pies, and two guests ignore your request to not bring anything and bring pies anyway, and then your spouse notices the leftover dough and decides to make a bonus pie.

Airspace over Venezuela as of about 2130 on 24 NOV 2025. Taken from Flight Radar.

Shortly after this was taken, I noticed a lone unscheduled flight leaving Caracas, a Conviasa Embraer. Or at least its transponder left...

They're at their second jobs so they can afford rent and to make their student loan payments.

I mean, seriously, this is also factually lazy. The weekday protests are a little gray, yes, because guess what, if you're not retired you gotta work. Not so the weekend protests or the No Kings marches.

I genuinely thought at first this headline was about the Tablets sold by the large internet retailing company and had to read the lede twice before my brain clicked on.

That is a bad sign. Black Friday advertising seeping through.

do you know what they call delivering a one-sided proposal that heavily -- nay, completely -- favors one side, and giving the party a short deadline to which to respond to it?

An ultimatum.

The President of the United States is delivering an ultimatum to Ukraine.

Somebody told him 100 Republicans were going to vote for it, but that some Senators would prevent it from going to the floor so the files will never be released, so now he's going to pretend it was his idea all along.

This is a small thread on the market inefficiencies of Amazon.

Take at look at these "Dementia Clocks". There's three more screens just like this -- all the same model of clock, each with one of those indecipherable brand names.

this is heart-breaking -- just two votes switched would change the results.

here we go

it's an absurd year from Judge, but I personally would still vote for Raleigh, due to the position-scarcity argument, and also because I think the differential in skill levels between catchers is unmeasurable, but real.

The previous use of the word "bespoke" was the past tense of "bespeak", a lovely archaicism. I was nevertheless surprised to see the earliest printed reference with the modern meaning of "custom" cited in 1869.

It's hard to get more literal than an image of the White House being demolished, without permission of any of Congress or the Architect of the Capitol or the White House HIstorical Association or anybody, in order to to build a ballroom like that of Louis XVI at Versailles, only ten times tackier.

JFC, just what we need, a Federal judge likening people showing up in frog costumes to firing cannon a Fort Sumter.

The whole point of the AGs' argument is we have precedents for what constitutes an insurrection, and being mean to ICE is not akin to the literal first shot in a civil war.

He literally ran on the platform of "I am your retribution"

Ironically (well, not really, anymore) his court-filed appeal on the NYS corporate fraud conviction was that Letitia James ran on a platform that she would prosecute him.
