You know, as someone who did grad school work on Arctic warfare, reformed DoD policy and readiness on the Arctic on the hill, and even advised OSD on Arctic policy matters….the Arctic is supposed to be the place where all of NATO is in firmest agreement. To call this insanity is to undersell it.

One of the first things anyone learns about facial recognition is that it is often wrong and that it is biased. And yet ICE is using it all day every day to determine legal status & who to detain. And now we have a high-profile example of it being flat out wrong:

ICE’s Facial Recognition App Misidentified a Woman. Twice
In testimony from a CBP official obtained by 404 Media, the official described how Mobile Fortify returned two different names after scanning a woman's face during an immigration raid. ICE has said th...

I would like to think the Mad King proclaiming “I will continue to illegally raise taxes on the American people until the NATO alliance collapses” would be the type of statement to cause Congress to act, but I’m not sure there’s any red line the GOP Congress has anymore.
Trump says he'll impose a 10% tariff (rising to 25% in June) on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, because they've sent people to Greenland, until the US can buy Greenland.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

This is a crucible moment. If this killing is allowed to pass, not because it has been fully investigated & found justified, but because it has been waved away, it will be a grave injustice to Good but also the nation.

Let’s all take a step back and look at the broader “OSINT” community.

What do we actually see?

Study after study shows campaign ads barely move the needle. So where does money’s real power come from? I ranked the five ways money corrupts politics—from least to most corrosive. What I’ve learned from 15 years of tracking political money:
Money Doesn't Buy Elections. It Does Something Worse.

These peaceful observers I spoke to had ICE show up at their homes in what they see as attempts at intimidation. ICE has somehow been accessing Minnesotans' private data in likely violation of state law, according to privacy advocates.

Last week, I looked into the record of the federal prosecutor in Minnesota who was leading the work on the Somali daycare fraud case.

He struck me as a straight shooter, not a partisan hack.

Well here's confirmation: He has quit after DOJ pressure to investigate Renee Good's widow. (#giftlink 🎁)

The Minnesota shooting case is now metastasizing unlike any i've ever seen. The successive resignations of heads of the crim section at CRD and 3 top career prosecutors in Minn -- who had hung in all this year n/w/stg multiple outrages-- means the Department is in open revolt in DC and the field.
