Burke was turned into a nice little book in the end:

Burke and Hare were a pair of murderers who sold their victims to a medical school. They’re often mistaken for body snatchers, but they never dug up any graves.
They were one of the original inspirations for Cheapjack Gentlemen, but if you know their story, don’t worry, CJG isn’t a retelling!

Absolutely understand this, the internet moves so fast and peoples' attention spans are dwindling. Can't take a break from making a free comic or people will forget, right?
Your comic is so good and the art is outstanding, I hope you find the motivation to continue, you deserve so much more. 💜

Mütter was a pioneer of plastic surgery and collector of medical oddities. He was flamboyant and colorful in both personality and fashion -- he'd wear colorful suits to his surgical performances.
The Mütter Museum was built off of his collection, it's one of my favorite museums!

HAHA YES. Although that's alleged. It IS confirmed, however, that he accidentally lopped off a guy's testicles while amputating his leg.

There's more about him here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_...

The two main inspirations for Dr. Crowley (Robert Liston and Dr. Robert Knox) knew each other and didn't get along in real life.
Crowley is all the boldness of Liston and all the questionable morals of Knox rolled into one.

Robert Liston was a skilled surgeon known for his speed and strength in amputating limbs (and holding surgical knives between his teeth). He was abrasive, but cared for his patients. He invented numerous surgical tools, including some still used today. Accounts of his surgeries are...interesting.

My favorite thing is that he sold his own corpse to a medical school in advance (for $50), and his wife got some extra money from it after he died. The most Edmund energy anyone could have.

You can read more about him here, if you're interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William...

For those interested, there's a good and brief writeup about him and his unwilling corpse wife here: www.atlasobscura.com/articles/mor...
The Macabre Romance of a Man and a Mummy
Using plaster of Paris, wires, mortician’s wax, and glass eyes, Tanzler brought Elena “back to life,” and proceeded to take her to his home where the pair shared a marital bed.

Carl Tanzler was a German-American radiographer who became disturbingly obsessed with his patient, Elena Milagro de Hoyos - even after her death. He lived with her body for years, rebuilding her decomposing corpse. He danced with it, serenaded it, and…I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination.
