Strange cat lady working as an illustrator. Loves coffee, cats, metal and animated stuff. Sometimes nsfw, always made by a human.

I took a nap after work today. I haven't done that in a long ass time. Definitely a sign of being deep in burnout for me. Along with other signs... wanting more solitude... being incredibly indecisive (or rather not having mental energy to go through weighing up options)...

"You can't un-invent AI!" We can't un-invent asbestos either. That doesn't mean we have to use it.

Doing my best to not get sucked into a depressive slump but man it's so hard. I'm trying to avoid social media and I catch myself almost falling into a political youtube spiral. Between the state of the world and my kak job I am not finding much joy. The one bright thing right now are 2 bands...

I have such very little desire to work today. I started a new crochet project last yesterday and it's literally the only thing I want to do right now.

I don't have enough saved up to go full freelance again yet, so unfortunately stuck with this less than fun job for a while.

Need to get me one of those pens.
Pilot had a massive ad spread in a jp newspaper with "make AI jealous" and "write what AI can't touch" written on it

Anyway I think everyone should own a Pilot kakuno pen

Okay, heads up to everyone considering downloading the new free version of Affinity: they make you sign up for a Canva account, and they absolutely collect a lot of data, including for AI training. If you must use Affinity, turn off everything on the "Personal privacy" page.

Orgs, take note.

So...instead of becoming a competitor to Adobe, Canva swallowed up Affinity and basically released their shit website as an app and attached the name Affinity to it and gave it an even more shit logo. You get more "features" (ai) if you sign up for canva's premium subscription.

Lightning flashes within the powerful eye wall of Hurricane Melissa.

Incredible imagery this morning of Melissa, a Category 5 storm, south of Jamaica.

I finally get a response to a job application and I botched the design test, which I only realised at the last possible moment. I hate job hunting.

of course, people (as in humans) are it's biggest risk to exinction :(
Chrysomallon squamiferum, the scaly-footed gastropod, or volcano snail, lives exclusively near volcanic vents at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, and friends, it is the most METAL gastropod imaginable.

It has no eyes & no jaw, but it does have:
FIRE ARMOR +100.

Let's talk about the metal snail.

I saw something recently that said a strategy for adhd is you just need to commit to doing 30%. The full scope of 100% of a project is just too overwhelming. So just start with some thumbnails or sketches for now and then commit to another 30% another day or week. Any progress IS progress

After loads of clicking through menus and updating Windows etc, I've managed to sign up for ESU for Windows 10. I really hope that Microsoft walks back it's policy in the next year because wtf guys.

I changed teams at work and this week has had at least one 30 minute meeting every day this week. Mostly for training on a new e-learning platform I haven't used before. I've used up all my social spoons. This continues next week and I'm supposed to be going away next weekend.

I'm not officially doing artober or any other art themed October challenge, but I would like to draw more this month. Here's a sketch of a doggo awkwardly sitting like their humans.

I didn't get a chance to sit down and draw last night. Instead, I covered my new sketchbook with a ton of stickers I've been buying from friends and cool people over the last few years.
