“Critics who actually watch a great deal of streaming television for the purpose of appraising it these days are somewhat like children staring directly at the sun. You’re not supposed to watch it! The whole point is that it’s supposed to just be there, glowing, while you do something else.”

4 senior House Dems — Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, Pete Aguilar, & Ted Lieu — voted for a Republican-led resolution to “CONDEMN SOCIALISM,” a symbolic measure that passed the chamber on Wed. The vote comes as NYC mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is set to meet with Pres. Donald Trump at the WH today.

People who use this technology do not want to be taught about a topic; they want the end result of having learned, without learning. I would guess for many this describes a feature, not a bug, of the technology.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

100% best feature of this platform
after experimenting for a while I have to say the “followers only” reply setting is absolutely worth it

I still get nonsense; at this account size that’s pretty unavoidable

what I get less of is open hostility, surprisingly few people are willing to follow you in order to leave a rude reply

The undercurrent that long precedes and will long outlive “everything is gambling” is “everything is defense contracting”, and surely the two are linked.

I have been publishing things on the internet long enough that I know – and tell people! – to not let things like ratings and comments get you down, but for a while there Never Post had a pretty bad Apple Podcasts rating, but it's been creeping up the last couple months and it *does* make me happy.

New @neverpo.st will be out end of the week; various personal matters have popped up for the staff. We gotta deal with those, and don't wanna rush the ep. It's gonna be a good one – about the work of addressing a waning attention span, and neo-luddism.
