Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

Faced with a scenario, for instance, where they clearly and obviously need to impose harsh real consequences on a treasonous former president, they simply… freeze. They conduct themselves almost exactly as before while tiptoeing forward one step at a time. Unsurprisingly they get almost nowhere.

As a result they find themselves almost completely paralyzed and ineffectual in any situation that requires more than rehearsing known, “safe” lines about health care and prices. They are unable to act because they just see an endless series of potential backlash to any unfamiliar course of action.

Every single decision about prosecuting Trump and holding him accountable has been made not with the objective of maximizing the odds of conviction and consequences, but minimizing the odds someone will say Dems are being political or targeting Trump. Consequently they failed utterly at both.

This is the defining quality of Dem leadership. They think about political decisions not in terms of what they want to achieve but by worrying about and minimizing backlash. They are looking over their shoulder nervously at the audience ten times more intently than they’re watching the road ahead.

I don’t have time nor inclination to think much about this right now but in the last 12 hours or so a ton of people in the left of this site have suddenly been attacking me, including with carefully edited screenshots of old tweets, and I’m pretty confused what’s happening.

I’d argue that it is key. Stealing a citizen’s phone is neither necessary nor proper for ICE agents to conduct their federal responsibilities. It is plainly unlawful conduct that local prosecutors could investigate and charge without Supremacy Clause problems getting in the way and no justification.

It’s past time for Blue State governors from CA, NY, IL, MN, WA, OR, MA etc filling up fed coffers with tax revenues to have discussions on what can a “blue state compact” look like exploring practicable soft secession - ie escrow accounts for tax payers from those states.

The past couple days have made it clear that arresting and prosecuting Johnathan Ross isn’t just the right thing to do, it is necessary to prevent future violence by ICE who have interpreted the situation as “we can do that to whoever we want”

I saw the interview with that pastor. ICE didn’t like him saying “not even close” when they said “are you scared yet?” Ice basically told him they would throw him in jail where he would get raped because he’s white. They are racist POSs.
