Women and girls
The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

“If a woman dares to show herself in public in any way, then she can and will be sexually harassed with the aid of genAI-driven tools that can easily turn her face into highly realistic pornography” is an absolute red-alarm human rights disaster

On Jan 20 we walk out everywhere.

Resistance doesn’t need permission. It needs to confront power.

A year into Trump 2.0, billionaires and big oil win.
Midterms will limit MAGA so 2026 is the cash-out.

We refuse. On Jan 20, feminists pull labor, money, consent. See you in the streets. #FreeAmerica

What makes Trump's bombing of Venezuela especially cruel is we already know how his administration treats Venezuelans who are displaced. Here in Chicago, masked federal agents have been kidnapping them from the streets, abducting them from barbershops, hiring sites, their homes.

So let me get this straight. After decades of refusing to act on gun safety legislation, Republicans finally decide to tackle systemic gun violence by (checks notes) charging a dictator of a foreign country with possession of machine guns, bombing that country, kidnapping him, & stealing their oil.🤦🏽‍♂️

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

I recommend calling cmte leadership — esp DC residents who have no representatives to call

Senate Armed Services:
Chair Roger Wicker (R-MS) 202-224-6253
Ranking mbr Jack Reed (D-RI) 202-224-4642

House Armed Services:
Chair Mike Rogers (R-AL) 202-225-3261
Ranking mbr Adam Smith (D-WA) 202-225-8901
Candid answer - as someone who handled constituent affairs calls for years - while they’re not checking the phone right now, the urgency of the moment is important.

Show them you care enough to make the weekend call, and be counted that way. Staffers will clock and report this upstream.
Is there actually a benefit to leaving a VM now vs getting a staffer on Monday? Can do both but just curious

"We will never again be slaves" is a very polite way to say "I will burn this whole place down with me and you in it."

That lady will wait for the very moment you seize those oil tankers and light a match.

Trump claimed Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, agreed to help the U.S. run the country.
Looks like he was lying because she just went on TV to express support for Maduro and say "we will never again be slaves ... we will never again be a colony of any empire, whatever its nature.”

I’ve been working full time to stop this war since last summer and the one scenario I feared the most is materializing — Trump is making a play for Venezuela’s oil. I’m not saying an insurgency will definitely form, but Trump’s ploy creates the perfect storm for an absolutely disastrous occupation.🧵
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."

Please do this, particularly as the residents of DC can't.
Called my rep and senators. Registered my displeasure and expectations that they will do what they can to put a stop to it.

If you're a US resident, I urge you to do the same. Capitol switchboard is (202) 224-3121.

I don’t love you and I’m not holding your hand: call your Senator and tell them that the must shut down the government on January 30th until this ends, a thing that Democrats have the hard power to do at this very moment.
I love you all and am holding your hand as I say this:

Dems wield zero hard power levers
it's kind of crazy that there's even any question that democrats are going to do anything about this

The House Armed Services Committee also was not briefed, I've confirmed.
News: Gang of Eight in Congress were only notified about Trump's Venezuela operation after it began, source familiar tells me. That means the heads of the Intelligence Committees in Senate and House were *not* consulted. Just crazy.

For those who haven’t been paying attention: the 21st century has seen an unprecedented expansion of gun rights, along with an unprecedented market for semiautomatic guns. We are creating the conditions for mass violence, through radical laws and court rulings

Two other noteworthy aspects that I didn't highlight in the thread: the majority spends a lot of time arguing that (1) this case is a "straightforward" kind that doesn't require use of analogies & (2) this fact pattern calls for a low level of generality in comparing the past. Both are wrong.
NEW: Creating a circuit split, a 9th Cir panel decrees that CA's ban on openly carrying firearms violates the Second Amendment.

The 2-1 panel decision is written by Trump-appointee Judge VanDyke, possibly the most extreme federal circuit judge in 2A cases.
