Two other noteworthy aspects that I didn't highlight in the thread: the majority spends a lot of time arguing that (1) this case is a "straightforward" kind that doesn't require use of analogies & (2) this fact pattern calls for a low level of generality in comparing the past. Both are wrong.
NEW: Creating a circuit split, a 9th Cir panel decrees that CA's ban on openly carrying firearms violates the Second Amendment.
The 2-1 panel decision is written by Trump-appointee Judge VanDyke, possibly the most extreme federal circuit judge in 2A cases.

We are being governed by the most corrupt, self-serving President this country has ever seen. DC has borne the brunt because we are not a state. The attempt to seize control of DC's public golf courses is another (small) example of how this harms regular people in DC and nationwide

The unstated thing that’s in the air on here today is that 2026 is an election year and everyone’s anxiety about that is going to be on full display complete with people saying and doing things to folks that probably don’t quite deserve it because of tactical disagreements

Would you be convicted, though?
Interesting to consider that if you were to go and deface the Kennedy center by removing Trump’s name, you’d be arrested and charged with a crime, but your act would be no more unlawful than what they’re doing right now.
