It would be hard to find a better metaphor for what he’s doing to the United States.

That House is ours, not his.
Trump earlier today when asked about the construction of the new ballroom:

“It won’t interfere with current building. It won’t be. It’ll be near it but not touching it — and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of.”

This is how it was left now overnight ⬇️

this thread started here and landed with a history lesson about egyptian cotton. a literal "today i learned."
US farmers are saying they "just need temporary help, until things get better."

Here's the thing. US farm exports- which are mostly soy- CANNOT get better.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.

We've walled ourselves out of the global market, folks. This is it.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

If your response to today's shooting is "he deserved it," you are no different from him. The reason he is such a reprehensible individual is that he lacks empathy for other people. Do not be like Charlie Kirk. Gun violence should always be condemned.

In this scary moment, it matters for each of us to affirm that political violence is wrong and will destroy our democracy.

The guns are the problem. Whether it’s high school students or Charlie Kirk or anyone else getting shot, this country has to crack down on guns and pass actual gun control laws to protect everyone’s safety.

It is incredibly simple to acknowledge that violence in any form is awful and erodes society.

I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.
It's mind-blowing how little attention this extraordinary statement has received. It's briefly mentioned in a couple news articles, but this MSNBC opinion piece is the only extended discussion of it I've seen: www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

I woke up on Thanksgiving with my neck hurting from having slept weird. Currently using the heating pad on it for the THIRD NIGHT IN A ROW because it’s still hurting. My 40s are coming a couple years early, it seems.

Just got back from seeing #Moana2 and feeling quite disappointed. Left a short spoiler-free review on Letterboxd: boxd.it/7Wr691
A ★★★ review of Moana 2 (2024)
I’m honestly disappointed. I loved the first film and was excited for this one. But it felt like a movie that would have been direct-to-DVD in years gone by. The songs were… fine. Nowhere close to the...

This is the single biggest thing pulling me to Bluesky right now. The web is built on links.
A clear sense of what it values, and what it wants users to do with it, is a superpower for a platform. Grateful someone on the internet still values links and is backs that up with product decisions!
We want Bluesky to be a great home for journalists, publishers, and creators. Unlike other platforms, we don't de-promote your links. Post all the links you want — Bluesky is a lobby to the open web.

Shocked. Absolutely shocked.
President-elect Trump and his allies disavowed the conservative Project 2025 during the election.

Now, his transition team is turning to Project 2025 to help staff the next administration, sources tell @nbcnews.com.
