Amount of time devoted to MN and fallout Sunday on network newscasts:

NBC: 8.5 minutes
ABC: 7 minutes
CBS: 4 minutes

Only NBC led with the news from MN
Two and half minutes. That’s all the time the CBS Evening News thought today’s events in Minneapolis were worth. Not even time to tell viewers what Alex Pretti did for a living.

The winter storm got 8 minutes.

NBC Nightly News spent 8 minutes, nearly half the show, on Pretti’s killing

ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol have proven themselves incapable of obeying the law, let alone enforcing it for others; unable to self-soothe, let alone keep the peace. Why must ordinary people be asked to stay calm and not upset them? www.theverge.com/policy/86745...
It doesn’t matter if Alex Pretti had a gun

Bessent: I'm sorry he is dead, but he did bring a semiautomatic weapon to what was supposed to be a peaceful protest.

Karl: There's no evidence that he brandished the gun whatsoever

Bessent: But he brought a gun!

Karl: We do have a second amendment in this country.

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

Yesterday, we joined tens of thousands to march.

This am, ICE responded with violence.

Alex was an ICU nurse, a union sibling, & an observer who stepped in to help.

This is a union state. We will continue to show up, to watch, to document, and fight

ICE is not welcome here.

This type of talk is all over r/nursing on reddit. They've even changed the picture of the subreddit to one of Alex in his scrubs.
I am seeing quite a few nurses calling for a nationwide strike over the killing of Alex Pretti. I think we are seeing one of the largest workforces being radicalized before our very eyes.

I cannot imagine how hard the last year for an ICU nurse and active union member at the VA has been. Everything Trump has done over the last year has made Alex's life meaningfully harder, until, ultimately, his own government killed him in cold blood in the street.

Really good piece. This is not a particularly promising path for authoritarian consolidation, but the ride until they are out of power is looking bloodier and more traumatic by the day.

Alex Pretti was already restrained when federal agents shot and killed him in Minneapolis, a New York Times analysis of video shows. The footage contradicts the Department of Homeland Security’s account of the shooting.

A moment-by-moment analysis of video from the scene shows that Mr. Pretti was already restrained when fatal shots were fired, which appears to contradict the federal government’s account of the event.

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.
Do you honestly think people in the civil rights movement and other nonviolent movements faced no violence themselves? They practiced nonviolence because it works, because the oppressor wants a shooting war, which is the war it will win
How's your non-violent working Mr Gandhi stancil? They will kill each and everyone of you right if they had the chance and you will still be writing Kumbaya.
