Welp, TIL the name and reason of a weird thing I have been able to do since I was a kid that was absolutely impossible to describe to anybody who didn't already know what it was.

This is amazing. Colorized pictures from queer/trans history.

We’ve always existed and will not be erased. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
Gorgeous colorizations of trans history images,

and a lot of incredible stories, including many lesser-known to many (A Zapatista colonel, a "transvestite pass" issued in 1928, the Scottish nobleman who the courts ruled should inherit his baronetcy in the 60s... for example...)
Coloring the Past - Eli Erlick
Using recent breakthroughs in photo editing techniques, Eli colorizes, restores, and digitizes photos from queer and trans history. The following images are originally from 1897-1973.

The point being that there is no bar to pass. The concept of good/bad dancing is rooted in a performative mindset, where you’re doing the behavior as a performance, rather than as an expression of your feelings, a relationship

It hurts me every time i hear someone tell me they “can’t dance”. And it brings me such joy when i get the opportunity to bring someone into their own body on the dancefloor and help them discover their own ecstatic movement, discover the play, the connection

In this sense, generative AI wants to automate the animal right out of you, leaving a pleasant, smiling consumer in the echoing wake of your magnificence. The conceit of these posts is not "fuck generative AI," but as an aside:

Fuck generative AI, and keep howling.
Dancing is our frolicing. Singing is our howling. Drawing is our tearing apart the environment in a proud declaration of the self. Don't do it because you're good at it. Do it because you are a fucking animal and will go crazy without it.
I also think this is why it's so insidious that we look at art as a commodified skill that you are good or bad at, and not just as an inborn human behavior.

Sometimes you just gotta make weird noises and dig a hole in the ground…
Increasingly I feel like I favor furry because it espouses the idea that humans, for all our mastery over nature, are still animals. We need to nap and wander and frolic and utter strange noises. It is good for us to be weird little guys, which is something society is so committed to stripping away.

If I don't make a weird little noise every couple of hours, I will lose it.

The whole of you is the wrong shape to be contained in an office, or a tidy lawn, or a Facebook event listing, or stoic moderation. You are a wild thing. Be wild.

She sees your fandom as affirmation, your money as funding for the harm she causes to trans people.

It doesn't matter how you feel about her work, whether it was a formative touchstone or not. If you still buy the merch or hype up Harry Potter, you are complicit.
Hey yall not what I wanted to do on my birthday but let it be clear

"Death of the artist" is all well & good but you cannot Seperate the art from the artist when the artist is still alive, a terf & every penny they recieve reinforces their beliefs & is used to actively harm Trans folks!
