I’m starting over with social media, so here’s a quick intro post. I’m Megan, and I’ve been writing books for about ten years. Four are published (yay!) and another, an Appalachian Gothic for adults called HYMN FOR THE FORSAKEN, is to be released in the fall of 2026.
The list of benefits of reading to kids is CVS-receipt long. It’s also fun to come up with unique voices and patterns and to “accidentally” say the wrong words and let them feel smart when they correct you. Ever made a preschooler laugh? It’s a drug.
Read to your kids 📖
No kids? Read to your friends’ kids.
No friends with kids? Make a friend—preferably one who comes with kids to expedite the operation—and start reading!
It is imperative that children are read to ☝️

It’s egregious on so many levels. As a parent, bedtime is almost a sacred time, ending with children at their safest and most peaceful state. And a stranger forcibly took that peace from them.
What happened in Chicago isn't getting nearly enough attention.
