Thank you - I had forgotten that name. The plant shop had it with labels calling it both! Same plant, in different locations and different 'names', same botanical names though! One was $1 cheaper too.... weird huh

In NZ they are a luscious turquoise, my absolute favourite bird.
I love their direct flights, straight to the point (food!) And up to safety, repeat.

They coaxed the tiny thing across the path and about an hour later, on my way home from our walk, I saw some Tauhoe in the bushes just along from the drain, about a metre off the ground.
I'm hopeful that the parents were helping their fledgling up to safety 🙌

I remember. Shocking. Yes, the scattered wreckage was and still is hard to see.

My dad's colleague was wracked with guilt having been unable to fly quite last minute and their seats went to someone else. I'm sure there was some relief there too... nothing easy there for anyone involved
