Pierre de Fécondité - a 1.5m tall stele near Chapelle Saint Nicolas, Bretagne. Traditionally women would rub their belly against the stone in the hope of becoming pregnant, and it could reputedly cure young children with disabilities. #StandingStoneSunday

Gabii: Archaeologists in Italy recently found a massive stone basin dating back more than 2000 years in the remnants of a once-powerful rival of Rome, the now ruined town of Gabii (pictured), about 11 miles to the east.

Toftegård stenen: This stone east of Roskilde has more than 50 cup marks, and just recently an incredibly rare Bronze Age glyph of a hand (discovered in 2019) has been made visible. Toftegård stenen was found by Erik Twedegård Jensen from Toftegården in Ejby.

Mynydd-y-Gaer: Hillfort in Denbighshire. #HillfortsWednesday There's a quite steep side, and a gentle sloping side. The defences on the western side are the best preserved, with no really obvious entrances, but the views are terrific.

Rynettin Wood Chambered Cairn: The RSPB commissioned an archaeological survey of Abernethy Estate in 1995. This identified three neolithic burial cairns in the Rynettin area. The most intact described here is located some 150m west of Rynettin House on the edge of woodland next to a gazing field.

Robert's Cross: The latest excavations by Chris Scarre and team on the island of Herm, near Guernesy have found the collapsed structure of the tomb, consisting of gigantic megalithic stones dated to ~4000 BCE.

Arn Hill Stone Circle: A recumbent stone circle on the hill above Rothiemay Station near Huntly in Aberdeenshire. One of the stones is known as the "Ringing Stane".

DAD: Hi - do you have an activity trail, for the kids? 3 NT EMPLOYEE: Of course – you’re just in time for the Autumn Gammon Trail! 4 MUM: That sounds fun, doesn’t it kids? 5 NT EMPLOYEE [handing an activity sheet and pencils to the kids]: Every autumn, the Reform Trust gammons flock back to the National Trust for the AGM. Just follow the trail round the grounds, and see how many you can spot! 6 NT EMPLOYEE [hearing something in the gardens]: Listen - that's their call [Calls emanating from the landscape]: tut-tut woke-woke 7 NT EMPLOYEE [showing the family an apparently empty fenced enclosure with some bushes in]: They are extremely sensitive and fragile... But you can bring them out of hiding if you put a little sign down mentioning slavery. 8 KIDS [pointing]: There they are! [Some little red faced PEOPLE wearing Barbour jackets and gilets emerge cautiously from the bushes. They are creeping towards a TINY SIGN in the middle of the enclosure].
