Bumping this great article again now that Judge Boasberg is reopening his contempt investigation into the El Salvadoran flights.
NEW: The law is supposed to protect unaccompanied migrant children from being summarily whisked out of the country by ICE in the dead of night.

But that didn't seem to matter on Labor Day weekend, when the Trump administration tried to do just that.

It is nice to see that the excellent team at LPO is still getting hard things done. This loan was started with the Biden Admin (as was most actual federal nuclear investment $), and the first loan that had a simultaneous conditional commitment and close. www.energy.gov/articles/ene...

There was another incident tonight where a Homeland Security agent shot at someone in D.C., the second such shooting in a month. For context, MPD has had five officer-involved shootings in the *entire year* thus far.

That seems...significant.

Only 7 out of 71 employees at the Los Alamos NNSA field site are working, the rest furloughed.

At the Albuquerque site (overseeing Sandia NM), only 7/81.

"The furloughs are the [NNSA's] first since its creation in 2000, as none occurred during previous shutdowns"

Mamdani: “I think it’s something worth exploring.”

It seems there are two main reasons things haven’t gone completely to shit in the US: 1. Lawyers and the courts; 2. Journalists and the media. Most of us can’t do anything about the first, but we can support journalism. Stop complaining about paywalls and subscribe to news & donate to public media.

I agree with just about everything from this piece from the NYT Editorial Board, though they skip over how the costs of transmission is a significant contributor to price rises, however the gist of the piece—that we need all forms of power to keep prices down and this Admin is doing the opposite. 💯
