Viv's a similar sort of... limit-testing problem. "Let's imagine someone who actually IS in the weight class these people spend lots of marketing dollars pretending to occupy. Could THAT person be a force for good in the universe?" in the sense that no one is ever entirely beyond salvation maybe

Ish was about as big as I could imagine someone getting in that scene without /immediately/ welcoming the Hat--and it matters *when* the book is set, too. I think that getting back on the road was his salvation--he would have been as cooked as anyone if he stayed
