Flatbush has language free whistle cards that don’t need translation for diverse neighborhoods where canvassers might not have common language with neighbors!

@dansinker.com we’ve got graphic whistle cards that work great when you don’t have a common language with all your neighbors. And lightens translation loads on very diverse neighborhoods.

We punch a hole and put it on a key ring.

Emergency whistle kits for anxious parents at a school near tonight’s abduction.

In Flatbush, we put together a graphical whistle code card to reduce translation needs. Files are here if you want to adapt for your neighborhood. Outside NYC, just print front. We're doing mini whistles because we can 3d print them for 5-7¢ each. We keep us safe. drive.google.com/drive/folder...

Sitting eating my sandwich in Fort Washington park and a woman just walked by listening to Raphael sing ave Maria and serenaded me. We spoke briefly in Spanish about this gorgeous day and place and I love this town more than ever.

They will have to come through me to get to her.

If they say ”you sure? Or you don’t have to do that”, you smile, wave your hand and say “we take care of each other” or nothing at all.

That’s it. You don’t make a big deal out of it. Practice doing it in your head and it is easier when you need to do it.

Found this the other day: seems to be a rouge plate from late 1800s. Rouge powder was pressed into the grooves on the plate. I thought it was a lid for a cosmetics jar, but it was delivered just on plate. One didn’t travel with cosmetics in one’s reticule. Gasp.

I love #mudlarking.

Bought a couple drawing pencils in a case at a stoop sale and this was in the sketch pad.

Yes, kid, you’re awesome.

The overwhelming majority of the people who show up week after week holding signs over the highway with my ma in yolo county are 80+!

If you’re making signs, there’s a free font called we the people based on the preamble to the constitution that makes everything look pretty badass.

I've finally given up
attempting to buy this part for a project. Who do I know who could help me design and 3d print something based on these? (Don't need or want
metal)

Mine’s today. I’ll share my cake with you. I’m pretty sure it’ll be delicious even though it’s very crooked. The kids made it with a lot of love and zero help and covered the bumps with sprinkles.

At least the pig buns were good and cute.

Added a wee bit of coal to my treasures. There were also many rocks. It’s raining in earnest now, but the downspout’s been extended an extra 5’ from foundation into a shallow trench.

For today’s self-care, I’m digging a trench for a French drain ahead of this big storm. Fascinating to see where the lawn begins and the mulched part of the garden and the soil is so different. We do mulch our clippings onto the lawn, but it’s not the same.

Try to spot the find before I pick it up! #mudlarking #beachcombing

Is it #mudlarking when you’re standing around a trench in a basement with your plumber and the concrete contractor talking about drainage plans when you reach down and pluck 120 year-old child’s tea set saucer from the dirt?

No back stamp, and pretty crude ironstone.
