Large painting, 36x40 vertical. The view along Adelaide St W in Toronto looking east from York St. Office buildings tall and low along each side of the street. First Canadian Place and Scotia Plaza are visible on the right side. The street is empty with a few people walking along the sidewalks but no cars in the street. Over the whole surface of the painting is a covering of pink triangles. Are they cracks in the view showing pink underneath or a pink net over top of the scene? Can't tell.

Listen. I finished issue Zero of CHITTERINGS.

Hand drawn on bristol board with pencils, inked with brush pens, lettered with a fineliner, digital screentones. Hell, I even drew the TITLE by hand.

Day 19 of #ArtAdventCalendar.
It's a cold, windy day in Toronto today. When I worked downtown, there were many winter days that I hurried up Bay St. on my lunch hour to shop, then rushed back down to the office. Bay St. is ALWAYS windy and the lunch hour outing above ground was as quick as possibly.
A view south on Bay Street in Toronto, from Richmond St. The buildings rise up in either side of the street. A steady stream of traffic is heading north towards the viewer. On the left side five people are walking south. Three are together in the distance, and two singles. Each of them are bundled up, shoulders hunched against the cold and they're throwing long pink shadows behind them. The sky above is grey and cloudy with a bright sun shining through. The style is cartoonish and shows a community that though they're all in the same place, they're separated from each other in cars, walking alone.

A two page spread from a pitch that didn't go anywhere. The pages were amazing ( colours by Doug Garbark ) and I couldn't believe that the book didn't get picked up. This was the project that made me say no more pitch work. It was also the start of me thinking about doing my own book.
