Ten years ago, in college, I drew a Firewatch tower on my brand new calendar. Every year I’ve repeated this tradition. I look forward to replaying it when I get a PS4, it’s a truly lovely experience…!
Ten years ago today we shipped Firewatch. I say this every anniversary but it feels both like a lifetime ago and like it was yesterday. Thank you everyone who played it back then or played it today for the first time. Thank you to everyone on the team, I’m still so proud of what we made.

I made a map of 3.4 million Bluesky users - see if you can find yourself!

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail

Just know that any time you see the phrase "fully autonomous," it's a lie. We are at least a decade away from true AGI. At least.

The Wayback is now so load-bearing we should be protecting it with our actual lives
They closed the CIA World Factbook and deleted it entirely.

i am trying not to joke about the Epstein stuff because it's so horrible but there's also this ridiculous element where it's like... discovering Dracula is real, he's taken over human society at the highest levels, he's involved in tons of evil and also he's a huge dipshit

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.
yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

Everything is reference. Weather, jobs, kids, food, whatever we talk about is based on common reference points we share.
Being media literate isn’t just for arts sake, it’s to have a wider range of references to make connecting as frictionless as possible. Across borders & language, ie, thumbs up!
"If you watch an episode of Cheers, you might hear references to foreign filmmakers, to classical musicians, to Russian novelists. The level of assumed knowledge back then was far greater; now, TV is rarely adventurous in its allusions."

Learning the difference between discomfort and harm is how you can exist in any social space.

If the mere *idea* of something makes you spiral or lash out, you need to take a step back.

This isn't even just "A vs B"; being so unable to sit with your own discomfort causes in-fighting (+)
Important shit that I’m still trying to learn.

Dooie Boel/Dead Spot; The film Paco Vink, me and a whole bunch of people have been working on, will premiere at the upcoming @kaboomfestival.bsky.social!

It tells the story of Jos, who loves building bird houses and nothing will stop him from doing that. Not even a slight zombie apocalypse.
