The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

I was listening to a podcast of authors talking about "bad review" parties where everyone brings their most brutal review to try to win a predetermined prize.

Academics should do this with peer reviews.

I think my "amusing at best, waste of academic time at worst" is a strong contender.

I'm not sure why the Biden administration didn't release the files when they were in power, but I am 100% sure that if they had Leavitt and all the other MAGA flaks would have howled that Biden was "weaponizing government" to "attack his political rivals" or something.

Our leading news organizations turned a cache of ultimately-innocuous emails into a scandal-coded weeklong series of front page stories leading into the 2016 election. If they do not cover the "emails from notorious pedophile implication the President" emails with the same fervor, it's curious!

You know, Democrats, there really isn't an upper limit on the amount of outrage you can have over the president of the United States being a child rapist. It should be the primary, if not the only thing you talk about. Go ballistic because it's the right thing to do.
A direct email exchange from 2011 between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, just released by House Oversight Committee Democrats.

There it is. That’s a HUGE part of the reason Trump & the oligarchs love the Gilded Age — the era before the income tax. They want to shift the tax burden back to consumers & working people while the robber barons celebrate their biggest tax cuts in US history. That’s also why Elon decimated govt.
Trump: "From 1789 to 1913, we were a tariff-backed nation and the US was proportionately the wealthiest it has ever been ... then in 1913, for reason unknown to mankind, they established the income tax."

Authoritarians don't give good reasons and facts, they'd rather not be questioned at all. They'd rather "because I said so" is the end of the conversation. They're "cognitively irresponsible" and unaccountable.

If you thought Trump was Marie Antoinette saying to the hungry "let them eat cake" or a partying Gatsby-era rich guy indifferent to the hungry, it's worse than that. He's now openly defying a court order, refusing to release SNAP benefits to stick it to Dems...more than willing to let people starve.
