#Writers, #artists are the soul and conscience of our country and the world…
When they cave and obey the powers that be, dictators, fascists, a little bit of our souls are lost..our hearts are cracked
our dreams of freedom, our hopes feel tainted
our voices haunted

The deadly shooting at Brown University is horrific. Students should be able to learn in peace, not fear gun violence. My heart goes out to the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Providence community.

The horrific tragedy at Brown University is the 389th mass shooting this year and the 230th gun incident on school grounds so far this year.

This is not normal and we don't have to live this way.

The total goes up to 92% if you include support for the continuation of Medicare and Medicaid.

Only 7% said there should be no government involvement of any kind in health care coverage.

Not all of the anti-vax influences in the US have been domestic or organic.

Russia ran an anti-vaccination messaging campaign on social media targeting a US audience for years as part of its active measures efforts, even before COVID hit (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...).
One of @pewresearch.org's "striking findings" from 2025 is relevant again as measles cases rise:

Republican support for requiring public school kids to get the measles/mumps/rubella vaccine has fallen sharply: 52% support it today, down from 79% in 2019.

ICE has taken Chinese dissident Guan Heng into custody and is threatening to return him to China.

Guan Heng risked his life to film the Uyghur concentration camps—the same camps Secretary of State Rubio opposed when he sponsored the “Uyghur Force Labor Prevention Act” as a US senator.
In late 2020 a Chinese man called Guan Heng travelled to Xinjiang with our BuzzFeed map of detention facilities to provide ground truth for our work - he provided the first corroborating evidence for many sites.

He escaped to the US - then ICE detained him.

Heng Guan is awaiting an immigration hearing on Monday that could lead to his removal from the U.S. and ultimately land him back in China, according to his lawyer and a New York-based activist group.
