I’m finally leaving Chicago and following Bovino to Charlotte on Thursday. If you’re in the area and have any leads on finding CBP/ICE/DHS, dm me for my number.

This isn't rocket science. ANY student who has passed a principles of microeconomics course should be able to explain this at the Thanksgiving table, the week where I have an open lecture day

Has anyone seen a paper using regularization to manage noise in event studies? I’ve got an idea that I’ve been toying with that should reduce the point to point noise in event studies (and may yield more precise honest bounds on did estimates)

I've seen this go by a few times on TikTok now and I have to say, I love this idea. We need a way to convince people to keep running even if they don't win, maybe building the loss into it as a troll move is the secret.

@kavehmd.bsky.social I'm sure you have thoughts about this! Likewise @iwriteok.bsky.social too.
Hewson also says tear gas "doesn't harm people."

Loevy: "It really should be a last resort, would you agree?"

Hewson: "No."

Uhhhhh. This doesn't sound like the AI boom is going to keep booming.

More like a crash boom!

This is a Christianity I recognize from my(limited) Sunday school in the Danish Seamen's church. One that focuses on a supportive social mission, not a mission to deride the poor and spread misery on the "undeserving”
“Leo inherited what wld become his first apostolic exhortation from Pope Francis, whose views he embraced while revising it to reflect his thoughts. But both pontiffs felt that those who did not see care for the poor as “the burning heart of the Church’s mission…need to go back & re-read the Gospel”

OPINION: It is clear that Pope Leo and Francis believe that “our faith in Christ, who became poor, and was always close to the poor and the outcast, is the basis of our concern for the integral development of society’s most neglected members.”

This is such a great idea. I would love to be able to park under a solar panel and avoid the hot sun heating up my car.
Meanwhile, in South Korea: "Starting at the end of November, public parking lots with more than 80 spaces will be required to install solar power generation facilities. This obligation applies not only to newly constructed parking lots but also to existing ones."

This is something I am looking into using mobility data. I haven't been able to look at Chicago yet (feed hasn't updated yet) but I've seen some evidence of similar drop offs in DC and LA during earlier periods.

Literally at a meeting yesterday and someone was saying how hallucinations are no longer an issue .... 🤔
the most popular smartphone maker in history literally had to stop using "AI" because it would constantly just make things up and had zero contextual "understanding" of what it was doing

Waiting for some resignations and denunciations
Sickening. Revolting. Vile. This makes you want to throw up.

This is the kind of garbage that the worst kind of people say when they think nobody is watching.

And where are Republican leaders from Trump on down condemning these comments swiftly and unequivocally!?

I’m waiting to hear it.

This take is unbelievably stupid. The Animus is long-standing and reflects events from January to March of 2016.
Very hard to understand Trump and MAGA’s animus towards Comey. He’s the decisive factor in there ever even being a president Trump. You’d think he’d never have to buy a drink for the rest of his life in MAGAland.
