For new followers, hi! I don't really know how to describe myself these days, but I used to work on @steamdb.info and various WoW tools intended to make data more accessible to more people. I'm pro-open data, anti-ad and a big supporter of game archival, with a personal focus on archiving WoW stuff.

In a constant barrage of bad news, both in the world and my personal life, it has become very important to stop and celebrate the small wins. It has been harder than it ever was, though. There better be a change in the winds sooner rather than later or there will be a generational crash-and-burnout.

Now is the time to make your feedback known. It appears the research we posted on MMO-C about it being tied into the backend of the new cash shop, the catalog market tab as well as decor previews all got confirmed.

When the implementation shows up or they talk about it, then provide feedback. So far they've said it'll be similar to how pets/transmogs work on the in-game shop and that's the last we've heard about that. Right now it looks like that is the case, with some additional housing-specific integration.

This week has a lot of loud bathroom leak solving related work being done. Am still very tired from a lack of sleep around that and all the stuff that's happened this year. Really hope that I can shower at home again in maybe a bit over a week (and that the issue is actually fixed). So done with it.

I'm going to have to set aside time of my week to look at things people have been making in player housing. Already seeing some very creative stuff like the below video.

Housing will have shop decor, this has been known since pretty much day 1/the PAX preview/when they literally said it. While the method matters I don't think it is super useful to 'provide feedback' (make angry internet posts) based on a picture of currency. The same thing happened with tendies.

One thing that probably needs repeating is that housing in 11.2.7 is the most "Early Access" thing Blizzard has ever done and the community needs to set expectations accordingly. We haven't really had this definition of early access on Retail yet, so that might come as a bit of a shock to most.

Did a bit of a PTR house speedrun in @meggoart.bsky.social's WOWKEA neighborhood real quick before getting back to work. Pretty smooth experience for me, but appears house moving/relinquishing is still broken when others tried it.

One of Blizzard's CDN hosts (the one on akamai) hasn't been updating with new configs/data properly for about a week now and it's been causing problems and slowdowns in almost all tools I work on. Might not be entitled to a fix but I really hope it gets fixed soon regardless. 🙏
