For new followers, hi! I don't really know how to describe myself these days, but I used to work on @steamdb.info and various WoW tools intended to make data more accessible to more people. I'm pro-open data, anti-ad and a big supporter of game archival, with a personal focus on archiving WoW stuff.
Many many years ago I wrote some code that stores the build number in an unsigned 16-bit integer, I sure hope all that code has since been replaced. I guess I'll find out next build. A similar issue already bit me in the ass with 3.80.0's major version being higher than 16 last year.
New #Warcraft build found:

Guess I'm not checking Skyreach for new decor as it is not actually available. This -might- need a hotfix. @support.blizzard.com @worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com

AllTheThings is singlehandedly keeping me from logging in on any of my characters, woopsies.

Hi everyone, my husband and I have had our contracts with Wowhead terminated effective immediately.

I'm secure for now with Icy-Veins, but Anshlun is looking for a job. He was the Class Lead there for years and is a great programmer. Please reach out if you have anything :)

Wake up, Mr. Freeman, wake up and smell the hotfixes. Long day ahead of me today, didn't get as much sleep as I wanted but sites are waiting to be updated.

The migration of map.wow.tools to the new box is finally complete with all maps now updated up to the latest 12.0.1 build.

No real news here of substance (obviously, given Midnight hasn't even launched), but the vibes some of the quotes give off shows they're taking it seriously. Don't be surprised if not all of Northrend shows up again/is revamped, though. I feel like the Midnight formula might apply.
Despite the expansion being years away, we've uncovered new insights into Blizzard's redesign of Northrend, which arrives in World of Warcraft: The Last Titan.

Starfleet Academy has put this version of "San Francisco" in my head and it hasn't left for several days now, so you must hear it too. youtu.be/-Z2mPz9L03I

I hate AI support assistants so much. Actually useless.

I think #StarfleetAcademy took a minute to get going, but I'm in. It is hopeful and optimistic like Trek should be. It clearly doesn't ignore Lower Decks, Prodigy or any previous show which I'm very thankful for. The acting is great, the VFX is great. I do have some issues with it too, though.

They are in the process of hooking up music this build, none of it has been shipped yet (and not everything has been assigned yet), but maybe we'll get it next build. Also, Arcantina/HS Tavern has 7 tracks. Very exciting, can't wait to hear them.

They may not be the colors we wanted, but they are probably the colors we deserve.

Seeing some of the, uh, "discourse" around the Classic downtime and am once again reminded kindness and literacy (including understanding jokes/sarcasm) are at an all-time low. This is why gamedevs don't communicate with the public in this manner anymore and any that do are an exception, dammit.

Watching the second FNAF movie before bed and noticed this very familiar sound that is also used for a few doors in WoW... which foley kit did WoW and the movie get it from?
(BlueSky amplified audio warning, I still don't think they fixed this issue...)

Lots of good stuff in this interview. Very curious to see that housing-specific (and normal?) roadmap closer to launch. Still a big fan of how they're tackling housing, obviously the 'new stuff' has calmed down for now, but looking forward to 12.0.5 and 12.1.0.

That said, I hope the experimental team continue cooking. Orlando Salvatore (Plunderstorm, MoP Remix) and Josh Miller (MoP/Legion Remix) both left, and I have no idea how big the team is to figure out if that's a big deal or not. I hope that secret gamemode we've seen some hints of isn't scrapped.🤫🙏
Not going to be able to 100% Legion Remix, but that's okay. Can't have FOMO murder the fun, it was a blast and a great excuse to get a whole bunch of max level characters on Horde. Hope some of the lessons from it can make their way into other content too and maybe even a Remix in the future.

Good TV-related news ICYMI:
- The writers room (with many old writers) for the new Stargate show is starting work tomorrow.
- Star Trek: Academy premieres on the 15th, early reviews are largely positive (woke trek returns, get owned).
- The Pitt got renewed for Season 3 (Season 2 started last week).

Slept about 12 hours, maybe 14 total, yesterday. Felt refreshed and I think maybe even cured, then caught up on all the (largely bad) news and it is 4AM again and my heart is restless. No clue how to escape it or tune out without losing access to valuable or work-related news/social connections.

Did a quick model naming pass. My favorite 3 new models: UVMapMan, UVMapDog and UVMapBird*.

This is so cool!
We've been slowly refactoring the S2V renderer to be self contained and now it's reached a point where it lives a separate package (and published to nuget). This opens the road to use the renderer for things like automating screenshots or implementing other viewers on top.

Cleaned myself up and went to old job place to hang for a bit because I needed to get out of the house and be normal. Made it all the way through it but crashed the moment I got home. Massive headache now, clearly still sick and overexerted massively, oops. Back to bed.
