2026 is going to be a great year to run for office. Filing deadlines are coming up fast -- in most places, it's not too late to get on the ballot. We'll help you get started. runforwhat.net

I am building a Chrome Extension that will replace the word “Trump” in any mention of Donald J. Trump with “💩Dump”. So a quote on a site saying “President Donald J. Trump” will read as “President Donald J. 💩Dump”.

If I can get it working, I’ll share it to anyone who wants it.

I think it’s about time that at least some of us start pondering “the Great Unraveling” that will occur when an extremely unwell Donald Trump finally succumbs to his numerous health issues, leaving the nation in the hands of his morally-bankrupt GOP and an equally feckless Democratic Parry.

Well, non-ICE-related homicides are down. ICE-related homicides are way up!
The U.S. remains in a multiyear trend of falling rates of homicides and other crimes in cities nationwide, according to a Post analysis. Rates of aggravated assault and burglary hit their lowest point last year since the start of the pandemic in 2020. https://wapo.st/4qE0b4j

Every day, I think “there is no way I’m going to be more embarrassed to be a citizen of the United States than I was yesterday”, and every day Trump opens his mouth to say something insipid, moronic, probably false, or a combination of the three.

Well, there’s always tomorrow.

Funny story: my family and I were eating lunch at a restaurant in Metairie while visiting. I saw Cassidy there, and on his way out, we crossed paths. He introduced himself and asked me, a lifelong Illinois resident, for my support. So I tell people Cassidy “isn’t the worst Senator from LA”.
Bill Cassidy learns an easy lesson the hard way. And the thing is, he won't be the last.

Fascism is unconstitutional in America, as the notion violates the Preamble of the Constitution, which states its purpose to:
- establish Justice
- insure domestic Tranquility
- promote general Welfare
- secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves

States should just declare Trump policy invalid.

So, is Trump targeting oil-rich sovereigns to help Putin or the Saudis? I’m too lazy to figure it out myself.

I read the quote as “My own mortality.”, not “My own morality.”

Frankly, it’s both.

And one will most assuredly stop him.

“You can’t kill us all, Nazis.” doesn’t ring like “Don’t Tread on Me.” but I’d wear that t-shirt proudly.
"You gonna murder someone else? You can't kill us all, Nazis."

We are in what scientists call an “extinction burst”. Conservatives have realized that progress passed the tipping point and are flailing trying to reverse it. Their actions are becoming increasingly desperate and harmful.

I’m afraid they are bent on taking us all with them.

Yeah, I don’t buy it. Someone will figure out that it is profitable to create frictions that prevent AI from solving all of our problems or to sabotage them outright (by legal means, of course). Never underestimate the power of human greed.

These Republicans are putting a lot of faith in science, medicine in particular, because it’s not going to go well for them if a declining Trump dies before their pardons are granted.

I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

I am beginning to wonder if Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts have realized the harm they have caused to their reputations by being Trump toadies in recent rulings and finally have drawn the line.
NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

I am really getting tired of seeing people who faithfully upheld oaths to the Constitution have shortened careers/lives and at the same time essentially no consequences have befallen Donald Trump.

It's becoming a crisis of belief.
Former Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse says he doesn’t have much time left.

Sasse is just 53 years old.

These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

Has anyone wondered what the Venn diagram of "Epstein files contents" and "materials Trump took to Mar-a-lago" looks like? Personally, I doubt it's two separate and distinct circles.

It certainly would add to the urgency to get the Jack Smith cases killed.

If Brandon Johnson wins re-election as Mayor of Chicago, he probably needs to acknowledge Donald Trump in his acceptance speech. He floundered until Trump sent ICE to our doorsteps. In the moment, he found resolve and clarity of mission.

I’m beginning to think that the GOP should have been more focused on the margins they will lose by going full “Trump autocrat mode” as opposed to solidifying the base, which is actually far smaller than they thought.

I’m really surprised that the “small government” “state’s rights” folks are trying to block state laws on AI with an Executive Order.

I’m beginning to wonder if I’m not up to speed with the Tenth Amendment or maybe they’re just full of shit and always have been.
