Pluribus: I suppose one day we will be told something of how Zosia went from being a little girl watching the ships in Gdansk and eating mango ice cream to walking the streets of Tangier filthy and dressed in rags. Probably not a happy tale.

(Trump tariff architect) Peter Navarro in the FT explaining that China needs to "build out healthcare" is absolutely fucking priceless www.ft.com/content/0297584e-3...
Mexico’s tariffs on China show the rise of Trump’s trade template
Such measures wouldn’t be necessary if Beijing ran anything like a normal, balanced economy

Building off @cameronwilson.bsky.social's reporting for @crikey.com.au, I highlight how we appear to have a baptist & bootleggers situation in Australia, where it appears the gambling industry was a big force behind the "social media ban for teens" in an effort to kill a plan to ban gambling ads.

Ahmed al Ahmed, the man who tackled one of the Bondi killers, became an Australian citizen 3 years ago.

His deed was "his way of conveying his gratitude for staying in Australia, for being granted citizenship."

He took 5 bullets, and fears he'll lose his left arm.

Reddit needs a confirmation bias filter for any gear-related sub. So many posts are just "I got X and I couldn't be happier" or longer-form versions of the same, and I just don't want to see them.

My Pluribus S1E7 hot-take is that Chekhov's 33 hours - the time it took for the Hive to learn of Manousos - is going to be very important somehow. The delay is referred to twice, in episodes 2 & 3. It also seems important that unlike every other immune, Manousos doesn't have a single question.

Waze kind of sucks but I don't understand why other maps apps have not ripped off the "planned trip" feature that alerts you when it is time to leave based on live traffic conditions.

I have to confess I'd never seen Fleabag until a clip on the socials (the haircut one) recently made me go watch it. So good. Very impressed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge's writing on this, each season and the overall series is very well constructed. Now watching Killing Eve.

Maybe if this happens we will get a Skytrain line out to North Van via the Second Narrows actually built. Difficult to see how this location supports 25K people all arriving and leaving all at once using current infrastructure. Beautiful spot otherwise. www.whitecapsfc.com/news/city...

Lucy encourages council to vote for the referral to make sure the work gets done. Passes unanimously. Hard to know what to conclude here. We could have just got this done; now we have to wait. Hope this does ultimately lead to the change we want to see.

I’m sure the ABC majority did not caucus on this in private, because that would be a breach of ethics.
Clr @mikeklassen.bsky.social , supports referral (nothing ABC loves more than delays). Was very impressed by VZ briefing. "The significant $ from the gov't shows the huge cost of doing these things." (Not true, we could spend less on studies and just DO things.)

Yellow Cab wants to party like it’s 1999. Never mind that pretty much every cab is a hybrid now, still with the “queues cause emissions” argument.
Yellow Cab president talks about how this would impact traffic, create longer queues and emissions (studies show this is not the case). "We all share the same goal, safer streets" no sir I don't think so.
