I've really enjoyed the latest series of photos by Rambling Ray...such extraordinary colours. Couldn't decide between this or the blue. Nature...we are so lucky!💚🌱
Undoubtedly Star of the Kerridge Hill Waxcap Show, Rare encounter with most Beautiful Pink Ballerina Porpolomopsis calyptriformis I've ever seen, wonderful moist Lilac Pink, one of eight seen. Nearby another one with impressive gills tutu! #fungifriends

This is what life should be about. Lovely to see such joy💚🌱
Every so often I venture south of the border, and Day 11 of my botanical #adventcalendar is the amazing Large-flowered Butterwort - native to SW Ireland, but occasionally introduced in England, including this population in Edale
Like @bsbibotany.bsky.social, I couldn't stop grinning!

Congratulations to Mark Searle, winner of the 2025 UK Butterflies Photo Competition, with his image of a Dingy Skipper - clearly an inappropriate name for a butterfly that can appear quite beautiful! Winning entries can be seen at: www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/competition_...

The word wreath is said to come from the old English word “writhen” meaning to twist, as in a circle or wheel. The wreath is also said to represent the wheel of the year, in recognition of the fact that the darkness and cold of winter will eventually fade away #folklore

2025 wildlife highlight from David Bentley:  "I saw this rare & spectacular Golden-bloomed Grey Longhorn Beetle at Castle Water, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve in June. With antennae longer than its body, the whole creature is longer than its name - a full 2 inches in total! Longhorn indeed...!"

Before I became disabled I would not have dreamt of interfering in legislation around disability so why does Tanni Grey-Thompson think it's OK to try to stop people with terminal illness from seeking a humane ending?

I got quite emotional looking at this - think I needed a nature uplift and... I got one! Thanks Tony and Wagtail💚
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Reflections with the alternative of #LongTails. How about this Grey Wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) that manages to combine both?

NO ARRESTS IN EXETER

35 sign-holders with “I oppose genocide - I support Palestine Action” signs were not arrested today in Exeter.

Instead, Devon & Cornwall Police decided to remove the signs from protestors and make a megaphone statement, before simply leaving the scene.
