Despite their claims and political machinations, billionaires actually want to live in a better society. They just think that hoarding, and facing no consequence, is the only way, and only achievable under RW politics.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

Quite enjoyed seeing the AoNZ minister toeing the MAGA love, saying that tariffs reduce supply which can increase prices, while rent-a-shrug Nathan Guy says tariffs make things more expensive.

Leaving govt lets people be less dishonest maybe.

Yeah, well, the AoNZ govt doesn't like science or evidence.
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

I suppose it's a neat parallel to our awful government, but I was thinking, given mortgage sizes, interest rates, and the cost of everything, how can people afford to maintain their properties?

And, of course, they can't.

Time to get a smaller tent, then.

Having 1 (one) opinion that is based on fact and isn't abhorrent should not be sufficient.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

Ok.
Looking for ideas.

In a few weeks, I'm going to host a meetup for info on scams and fraud. I want to do it before Christmas for very good anti-fraud reasons.

I'm thinking I'll send a notification out to seniors groups and churches and try to get an immediate estimate of attendees.

Doable?

Even apart from the AoNZ Mentioned, this is a fascinating video.
This is a really remarkable video essay on contemporary film and the theories of Laura Marks. It's making me think about movies in a new way.

I presume they make it bad so you buy Copilot, in the vain hope that it will be able to find things.

I'm torn on this one. Obviously Seymour is a dishonest tool, but the underlying issue is, clearly for me, the lack of safety on the roads for cyclists.

I don't buy the "people don't bike because of helmets" thing. Just doesn't seem to add up.

But I'd happily drop support if the roads were safe.
Decades ago, I supported mandatory helmet laws for people riding bikes. Then I was convinced by evidence and the bigger picture that such laws are actually counter-productive in many ways. This NZ article explains some.

I support helmets, but not mandatory helmet laws.

Build safe infrastructure.
David Seymour was right to question our compulsory helmet laws
There’s little evidence our mandatory cycle laws improve overall safety, and quite a bit of evidence suggesting they’re doing more harm than good.
