Everyone got to celebrating, awarding one another prizes & trophies, inflating their self-cherishing attitudes, believing that they were the very best and brightest of humanity, fully convinced that they had won so totally that nothing further were required to be done.

Seeing all these countries fall into fascism within a single generation since World War 2 makes me question what struggle did anyone win. Nobody seems to have engaged with the task of addressing non-material harms caused by colonialism, leaving us vulnerable to fascism's inevitable return.

Women like Ferreria don't have the options I have and are incredibly more vulnerable to the full actions of the US white supremacist empire. We need to be protecting each other, sharing resources, and actively fighting against this. If you are white, use your whiteness and access to this power.

I saw it again when I had a child with a white man who has tried and failed to crush me under the weight of white dominance. He has only failed because I taught myself how to navigate these systems better than he knows and I have the privilege of a white name and white skin.

That's the truth of the machine. As a mixed white Indigenous person, I saw my white family do this over and over again to my mom after my white dad left her. My white family constantly treated me and my brother like others, calling us slurs, refusing to include us in my grandma's will, etc.

And the second you move in a way they don't like, their friendly welcoming will immediately turn into a full assertion of their power that was always there, simmering and waiting to be used.

They are languishing in the shadows. One deportee recently died by suicide in Nepal. Another one, who came with Aasis, is so depressed he can't leave his home. They have no status, no prospects, no way to make money. Aasis and his father have been strained hosting other deportees in recent months.
