Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.
Loved 95% of Bugonia and then absolutely hated the ending, which felt like a troll job and a mindless provocation. Maybe this worked in the original 2003 Korean version, but it plays very, very differently in a post-COVID, post-Jan. 6 world.

Seems pretty logical that after four years and the emergency resettlement of 76,000 Afghan refugees, one of them would shoot somebody. Americans do it all the fucking time.
What's more logical?

That the CIA directed one of its assets to perform the perfect false flag?

Or

That a jihadist played the long game by working with the CIA in Afghanistan to gain legal access to the country and then travel 3,000 miles to enact his plan of attacking National Guard soldiers?

The 1931 Boris Karloff Frankenstein works the best because the monster actually being a monster is more believable than any version that portrays him as a tragically misunderstood victim. The new version's a'ight but nothing here remotely approaches the tension of the girl with flowers scene.

(1) Trump ideologically supports corruption itself and is predisposed to despots like Hernández. (2) Hernández dramatically curtailed freedom of the press during his presidency, which has long been a project of the right. (3) Trump is trying to influence the Honduran election on Sunday.
"We blow up ‘alleged’ drug boats in the Caribbean but pardon actually convicted drug traffickers in the U.S. Someone help me make sense of this.”

The only way to believe the killings of the Venezuelan fishermen are legal is to assume that the U.S. military can kill anyone, anytime, anywhere in the world, even absent Congressional authorization. There are no limiting principles you can create that would allow for these attacks.
a lot of words, none of them denying that Hegseth gave an order to kill helpless people who were stranded at sea after he blew up their boats

Politicize every tragedy. When the Titanic goes down, ask why the White Star Line didn't want to spring for enough lifeboats. When the West Virginia mine explodes, demand better safety regulations. Asking tough questions to make sure it doesn't happen again is exactly what we should do.
The spirit of Thanksgiving has infused the White House press office today, bringing us together in a blessed moment of harmony and goodwill.

The oral argument in Trump's appeal of the $1 million sanction against him for filing a frivolous RICO lawsuit against Hillary Clinton only happened *8 days ago*. Trump's loss here was not a close call.
NEWS: A federal appeals court pane upholds the $1 million sanction against Trump and Habba for a "frivolous" lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, Comey, et al.

"Many of Trump’s and Habba’s legal arguments were indeed frivolous," Judge Pryor wrote.

Federal prosecutors move to dismiss the case against Robert Dear in the mass shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood in 2015. Dear died in custody on Sunday while efforts were still underway to restore his competency for trial.

This war was lost in July 2024 when SCOTUS declared the president a king above the rule of law. This is just the last Japanese soldier surrendering on an island somewhere in the south pacific.
BREAKING: The case against Donald Trump in Georgia is officially dead.

The prosecutor who took it over recently has moved to drop it – and Judge McAfee has granted the motion.

TBD how the movie turns out but the new Wuthering Heights trailer is up there with The Dark Knight, Watchmen, and The Virgin Suicides as one of the best trailers ever made.

Amber Heard: An American Witch-Burning
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

These crashouts seem petty and embarrassing, and they are, but they're intended for a very specific audience. They just want the six Republicans on the Supreme Court to read it and get mad enough at the libs so that they'll be willing to disregard the law and intervene.
When liberals secured a majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2023, they changed internal procedures—over the objection of the conservative chief justice, who claimed they were taking away her power. Today the justices released MESSY details about the affair...

Chris Tucker rode on Jeffrey Epstein's pedo plane, Brett Ratner was accused of sexual assault and harassment by six women, and Jackie Chan is 71. Not to mention Rush Hour 3 came out almost 20 years ago and legacy sequels are almost always terrible. Great idea, Paramount!
Rush Hour 4 is reportedly a go at Paramount – after Trump intervened on behalf of the movie.

All available evidence says that being under indictment by this Justice Department is the absolute safest place you can be, so lucky them.
MS NOW confirms: The FBI is working with Capitol Police to schedule interviews with the six Democratic lawmakers who urged service members to refuse to comply with illegal orders.

It was also established at Jack Ruby's trial that he suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy, which is common among violent criminals because it inhibits their impulse control and causes them to react to trivial provocations with excessive violence.
Jack Ruby is the most explicable with the passage of decades: He was a wannabe loser who thought shooting someone was his path to being somebody. He's the proto school shooter, except his plan made more sense. (Not a whole lot of sense, mind you, but more if you're basically a jackass.)

Casino 30th anniversary rewatch. This is more of a collection of scenes than a movie. And some of those scenes are pretty good, but most of this is just Scorcese going through the motions, and man does it go on forever. Very overrated.

Catering to the Right isn't just a bad PR move for an actor or actress, it's career suicide. Republicans don't go to the movies. They think Hollywood is decadent and communist. Sydney Sweeney alienated everyone who might have gone to see her movies in favor of people who never will.

These cases are just extremely difficult to win. Juries are unbelievably deferential to cops when it comes to using force, and while that has improved somewhat over the past decade, there's still a long way to go.

This meme is also just a flat out lie. Joe Biden ended the war in Afghanistan. He decreased drone strikes more than 90%. He did exactly what the tankies bitch that no American president ever does and they *hated* him for it. If you're still posting this meme, I'm sorry, you're stuck in 2011.
I hate this sort of meme.

“The only difference between the parties is whether the power to destroy human civilization rests in the hands of leaders who think gays, women, and black people should have their rights acknowledged.”

Even if true, how is Rainbow B-52 not infinitely preferable?

119,000 jobs might sound like a halfway decent number, but the 12 month average for job creation is down 35% since Trump took office and at its lowest level since March 2021. This economy is *toast*.

Don't know Judge Smith and don't practice where he presides, but the author of this dissent is a deeply unwell person who should not be anywhere near the federal bench. But when the Supreme Court acts like a bunch of lawless clowns, you can expect that behavior to trickle down.
I have never seen an opinion like Judge Smith’s dissent in the Texas redistricting case in public before. H/t to the election law blog
